Winner!

Christina (#815) who said: “Oh, Mel. My blender broke a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying without it while waiting to buy a new one. I would love to win!”

Timely win, Christina! I hope you love the blender!

Because I was so overwhelmed and happy with the response from this giveaway, I sent out a second BlendTec to a lucky winner. MommaD! Congratulations and happy blending, winners!
—————————————————————–
Hi.

My name is Mel. And I have a Blendtec problem.

The issue? I can’t stop using it! Whipped cream? Blendtec. The best Orange Julius known to my lips? Blendtec. The most divine, fat-free smoothie in the world (details below)? Blendtec. Bread crumbs in an instant? Blendtec, baby.

I was gifted a Blendtec for Christmas from my very generous parents. I wasn’t super familiar with the machine (yes, a machine because it is so.much.more than a blender) before a few weeks ago but after experimenting a bit, I have officially decided that the Blendtec ranks right up there with appliances-to-save-in-a-fire (and may even surpass my much-loved Bosch – shhh!). Seriously. This thing is amazing.

Are you familiar? Do you own one? Used one? Drooled over one?

Basically, it’s one blender that can do everything from make smoothies to milkshakes, bread dough to salsa, bread crumbs to salad dressings. It does the work of at least 1,000 other machines. Ok, not really. More like nine other machines. But are you catching my drift?? It’s unreal.

So I’m giving one away. I can’t help it. I need someone else to share in my joy and excitement.

Here’s the details, to enter the giveaway for ONE Blendtec Total Blender, leave a comment on this post telling me anything you want. If you really need direction, leave me the specs on your favorite smoothie combo. I need some ideas since smoothies (among other Blendtec miracles) are becoming a serious part of my life – at least four times a day, on average. I told you I had a problem. I wasn’t kidding.

Winner will be announced Monday Sunday!

Peace out, my friends. I’m off to make the treat I alluded to above: flesh of one mango, drizzle of honey blended with 16 ounces of unsweetened strawberries. The combination morphs into the most unbelievable, tropical fruity sorbet/ice cream you’ve ever had. And we’ve eaten at least six rounds of the magic in the last two weeks. Fruit overload tummy aches have never felt so good.

{Giveaway sponsored by me. Wish I could give one to each of you!}

My favorite smoothie is green lemonade:
    1 handful of baby spinach
    1 baby cucumber
    1 cup of green grapes
1/2 of a lemon, peel and all (I remove the seeds.)
    4 ice cubes
This is refreshing, especially on a warm summer day!

  2. Heather says:

I love any smoothie with pineapple! Yum!

  3. emelia says:

That blender looks AMAZING! I so need a Blendtec! Here is a smoothie recipe I have been wanting to try. Mix together 1 lg can pineapple juice and 1/2 bottle pina colada mix, store in fridge. Add frozen pineapple, mangos, bananas, ice and pineapple/colada mix….then blend :)

  4. Jennifer says:

I love mixed berry smoothies with orange and yogurt. The only problem is the seeds from the blackberries and raspberries! I bet this machine would take cate of that issue and just pulverize them! Thanks!

  5. Shauna Woolf says:

Ice cream milkshakes are our favorite!!! Yea for blendtec!!

  6. Krista says:

  8. Melodie says:

I seriously need a good blender. The one we currently have my husband bought for about $5. It is lame.

  9. Laura S. says:

What a great giveaway! Santa forgot to bring me a blender (and a Kitchenaid mixer) this year – I must have been bad at some point last year and he knew it. Thanks for the chance to enter!

  10. Michelle says:

I want this so I can make perfect non-alcoholic pina coladas! Now that sounds refreshing.

  13. Rachael says:

I would love a blendtec. I have a friend who has been known to travel with her blendtec. Bring on the goodness.

  14. Maria says:

This would be the perfect blender for my family! My husband’s had a bypass, so I mix him up at least 2 protein shakes daily. My boys LOVE popsicles, so our aging blender gets its daily workout! By the way, I love your blog and recipes and enjoy reading your Facebook posts!

  15. Janine says:

    Mint chocolate chip milkshakes!

  16. Emilee Keyes says:

OoooHhhh, how I would love to have a BlendTec in my home, it is more than just a blender. I have just learned the possibilities are endless. Pick me!

  17. nancy says:

my smoothies are generally just milk-yogurt-fruit (fresh or frozen). But I do try to add crushed flaxseed for a boost and I don’t really taste it or “feel” the change in consistency. I am getting into “sneaky chef-ing” things, so this would be awesome for making purees. I just made brownies with 1/4 black bean puree… delicious!

  18. Shantel Schow says:

We like to add spinach to our smoothies. And any other veggies I can sneak in without my kids noticing.

  19. teresa g says:

I would so love to win one of these. Would be great to upgrade my ‘bought in an emergency’ $10 blender.

  20. Jen says:

I would love time in the mornings to make smoothies. With 4 1/2 month old twins, I don’t have time for much of anything other than survival! :) I’m sure I could whip up smoothies super quick with this blender, not to mention baby food, too!

  21. Lauren says:

Smoothies are pretty popular in our home too, mostly in the summer, or when we all have the flu and mom is in that ‘name-it-and-I’ll-make-it’ mode. Strawberry milk shakes, ice cappuccinos, yogurt smoothies, whatever tastes good. :) Thanks for the giveaways, they were something to look forward to during this usually dull month.

  22. Mia says:

I really want an peppermint oreo milkshake…made with homemade peppermint ice cream and homemade oreos, yum-my!

  23. Ashley Rees says:

I would really like some new baby bedding for our THIRD DAUGHTER (slightly terrified :) that I am excpecting…but that has nothing to do with smoothies, but is def something I want. But my other two girls LOVE smoothies in the morning….we usually do a frozen fruit (peaches-strawberries/ bananas/ orange juice/ milk and whalaaaa. I have been meaning to add spinach (since that seems to be the cool thing to do these days….eat healthy and all….lame :) but am too nervous to try it yet!

  24. Sarah says:

I make smoothies with greek yogurt. I usually put one greek yogurt cup in, half or whole banana, some skim milk, some other type of frozen fruit (strawberries, berries, pineapple, etc.) and a few ice cubes. They always turn out good and I know they are super healthy! I would love this blendtec!! :)

  25. Ted says:

Oh yeah I want to try one!

  26. Alyssa B says:

I love coming to your site, most of my new recipes have been found here, and they never disappoint.
As far as smoothies go, I always make it up as I go along, using whatever is on hand. But throwing in a half cup or so of cooked cooled oatmeal gives you a fiber boost, and you can’t even taste it (you could add more if you are making bigger batches, I usually make for 2).

  27. jessica says:

i think the motor on my current blender is going, so this would be nice even though i never win these. no harm in trying, right?

  28. CoyAnn says:

I would LOVE to win that beautiful machine :)

  29. Gina says:

Wait, a blender that makes bread dough and milkshakes, what?! I want that blender on my kitchen counter! LOL We LOVE homemade breads and chocolate milkshakes!!

  30. Stephanie says:

Would LOVE to have this! I have Kitchen aid Blender that works pretty well—but doesn’t blend everything! My favorite thing is to start my morning with a Protein Smoothie. I mix 1 scoop protein powder, 5 chunks frozen banana, 2 TBS almond milk, some ice, and 8 oz water. It is delicious!

Also, try blending frozen strawberries and bananas together with a little bit of almond milk—just like ice cream! Soooo Good!

  31. Jen says:

I have to say, Mel, that I thank God for Pinterest because otherwise I might never have found your site!!!! I love SOOOOO many of your recipes!!!

  32. Talaya says:

At this point blending anything would be nice since my smoothie maker is broken.

  33. Natalie says:

My husband and I were just talking about this machine yesterday! It’s on our “to-purchase” list. It looks/sounds amazing!

  34. Terri says:

OK, seriously, this is a cool blender! I love smoothies, and this baby looks like it can get the job done!! I want one, I want one!

  35. Candace says:

My default smoothie is plain yogurt, water, spinach, bananas, frozen fruit (usually mango and/or mixed berries). I probably need to get out of that smoothie rut. Thanks!

  36. Tina says:

Berries, bananas, flavored Greek yogurt and some apple juice. Along with a little flax seed and spinach. Yum!!

  37. Melanie Erickson says:

I have had my eye on a Blendtec for a while but just haven’t bitten the bullet. I would be happy to let this machine join the ranks of my Bosch.

  38. Jan R says:

    Can I make a margarita with this…PLEASE?

  39. kseg says:

Blendtec’s are AWESOME! My grandmother and mother both have them and they are sooooo nice! When my kiddos and I are visiting we love making snow cones with it.

  40. eva h says:

We only have one blender, and my husband has highjacked it and taken it to work with him! So I now can only make my smoothies in a small food processor! My favorite combo is i scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1 cup plain yogurt, frozen mango, drizzle of honey and a splash of cranberry juice!

  41. Whitney says:

We drink lots of smoothies around here and I always sneak spinach in them. You can’t even taste it, and the kids drink it right up!

  42. Sharon says:

My blender’s motor is on its deathbed, and this would be a wonderful replacement.

  43. Kim says:

Our children love smoothies meals! They get excited helping to add the fresh or frozen fruit, ice cream or yogurt. They are always up to creating something new and delicious! I must admit the peanut butter banana smoothie is pretty yummy, especially topped off with fresh whipped topping! I think my kid’s would enjoy the blender the most.

  44. Kimberly says:

I have wanted a blentec for over a year now, but when I started wanting one, it hadn’t been all that long since I had bought my bosch and DH didn’t want to spend a lot on yet another kitchen appliance. I would LOVE to win one. Awesome giveaways this week!

My kids love smoothies. Here’s to making many more!

  46. Natalie says:

  47. nadine says:

I would love a good blender that I could turn fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and a little chicken stock and turn it into a soup that we could just heat and eat. YUMmmm :)

  48. deb says:

Smoothies are one of the best ways I know to try to get more servings of fruits and veggies each day…! I usually throw whatever fresh or frozen fruit together with a handful of spinach. Take the ribs out of celery and throw some in – supposed to help with pH balance in our bodies…

  49. Sandra says:

This has been on the top of my want list for SOOOOO long. My family makes smoothies almost every night.

  50. It sounds similar to a VitaMix! I’ve heard that these types of machines are irreplaceable in the kitchen :)

  51. Loren says:

I would love to try out some strawberry and banana smoothies with a blendtec!

  52. Megan says:

Mmm… one thing I want is to learn how to make delicious smoothies– I’ve recently become a big lover of (bought) smoothies! Great giveaway!

  53. Rebekah says:

This sounds similar to a Vitamix which is great machine that I dont own, trying to convince hubby we “need” one, just like a Bosch for our growing family of hungry boys :)

  54. kristywalker says:

My sister got one for Christmas and I’ve been really wanting one, too!

  55. Harold says:

I just discovered “Mel’s Kitchen Cafe”. First thing I see is the Blendtec giveaway. Thought I’d give it a try. Thanks.

  56. Marissa says:

I really REALLY like the Caribbean Passion smoothies at Jamba Juice (it’s the only kind I have ever bought there. Ever!) and I have found a way to make a pretty good copycat a home. Use the tropical frozen fruit blend from Costco, add some orange juice, a little milk, and a little sugar. Blend and drink!

  57. Jamey Jeppson says:

Wow, I’ve never heard of a blendtec before, but I’m pretty sure that I need one now! My blender literally died yesterday!
    Green Smoothie:
1 kale leaf, a handful of spinach 1/2 c. orange juice. Blend. Add 1/2 banana, handful of strawberries, kiwi or other fruit of your choice. Yummy. Seriously my 3 boys even love it.

  58. Megan says:

For my kids this is my standard smoothie: 1 banana, some juice (whatever i have on hand, maybe 1/3 to 1/2 cup) various frozen fruit (again, whatever is in the freezer), and 4-5 generous scoops of vanilla yogurt. Voila! I also make them a homemade version of “Yo-J” which, I think, is much healthier than the store version: 1 bottle of V-Fusion juice, 1 large carton of all-natural vanilla yogurt. Blend in 2 batches.

  59. krissa g says:

Oh, I would so love this!!! I’m working on becoming more healthy…so this would be perfect!!! I love smoothies….and to make healthy homemade dressings would be great!!!

  60. Terry Pitzer says:

Oh, do I need a new blender!!! I have never heard of Blendtec but am so longing to become better acquainted. Thanks, Mel!

My favorite smoothie: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana, and blackberries with some apple juice and strawberry yogurt! Delicious!

  62. Amy S. says:

  63. Celeste B. says:

After reading this post, it sounds like I “need” a Blendtec Total Blender.

  64. Wendi says:

My 4 yr old and I LOVE green smoothies, but making them in my regular blender is time consuming and difficult. While at a friend’s house, I watched how she made smoothies with such EASE in her Blendtec. I vowed then to get my hands on one.

  65. Patricia says:

Great giveaway! My son has a Blendtec and is encouraging us to get one. So far we have not saved for it.

    Our favorite smoothy–
    1 cup plain nonfat yogurt
    1 cup orange juice
    2 ripe bananas
1 tablespoon flax seed–in a regular blender you have to blend these first for quite a while unless you like seed parts in your teeth after eating the smoothy
2 cups frozen wild Maine blueberries

Blend all together and swill down!
This makes way more than enough for two big glasses of smooth goodness.

  66. Christiana says:

    Milkshakes sound so good!

  67. Terri A. says:

Looking for new breakfast ideas – smoothies may be the way to go!

On man, I’d love this — my Magic Bullet just isn’t cutting it anymore…

  72. Bonnie says:

I make a smoothie every single day, I love them! My favorite is just a banana, frozen berries, OJ and yogurt. Sometimes I add a little bit of the Hagan Daaz mango sorbet- yummmmm!

  73. JenJ says:

orange juice, frozen fruit (strawberries, mango, peaches), plain yogurt, and kale. super smoothie! A Blendtec would be phenomenal!

  74. Keli Martin says:

Funny that you should post this! I JUST taught my daughter how to make smoothies the other day :) Our favorite lately has been frozen strawberries and raspberries (both fruits we picked at the farm so it was nice to reminisce with my kids AND the fruits are very sweet so no suger/honey/stevia is needed to sweeten it!), a large handful of spinach, and homemade yogurt. Directions: Blend about 2c. yogurt with a generous handful of spinach. Make sure to blend well! Throw in a handful of strawberries and raspberries and keep adding frozen fruit until you get the desired consistency. Makes enough for about 4 people. Enjoy!

  75. Jin says:

I NEED that blender in my life…I can’t believe that you are giving it away! My favorite smoothie combination is: half of a banana, 1 scoop of protein, a handful of strawberries, and a swig of orange juice!

  76. Sarah H.P. says:

This is definitely my blender of choice and if I don’t win this one then I’ll just have to add it to my list of necessary kitchen gadgets for the future!!

  77. Ruthie says:

I would LOVE to win the Blendtec! My blender is old, rickety & definitely cranky.

  78. Heather P-W says:

Sounds like I could really use a machine like this!

  79. Melanie says:

One of my favorite smoothies: blueberries, yogurt, and chocolate soy milk. It tastes like milkshake but with fewer calories.

  80. Andrea D. says:

I would love this for making soups or pureeing vegetables in my food to hide it from my kids. Thanks for the chance to enter.

  81. Miz Gala says:

    I like machines!

  82. Frozen strawberries, frozen peaches, an individual container of yogurt, a half a banana, a little bit of water or milk, blend, then voila! Yumminess!

  83. Adria says:

I had an obsession with peach-mango smoothies in college and nearly wiped out my dining money each semester purely by purchasing them in our student union on a nearly daily basis. I would love to attempt to make them on my own!

  84. Tara Sandler says:

Hello! Your site is great! This year I am trying to eat more green veggies. Blending greens like kale into a smoothie is a great way to get more greens!

  85. Jasmine says:

Oh man, that would be awesome! All I have right now is a bullet sized blender, and it’s frustrating because I want to be able to make a week’s worth of smoothies to put in the fridge, but I can only do one at a time!
This week’s smoothie is: fresh pineapple, some sort of small papaya fruit, a banana, a spoonful of flaxseed, and as much spinach as I can stuff in. My students think my green smoothies are so weird, (and so do the other teachers), but it is so worth it!!

  86. Barbara says:

A strawberry, blackberry, and blueberry combination sounds like perfection right now!

  87. Jamie says:

My husband would be the happiest man alive if I had a cool machine to make him some smoothies. They are his favorite!

  88. Janeen says:

Oh I want/need one of these soooo bad!! I just can’t convince my hubby to get me one!

  89. Kerri A. says:

I love smoothies, but sadly I don’t even own a blender to mix them up with! :) I bet this awesome machine could whip up some frapachino style drinks too! I would be in heaven!!!

By the way, you are so awesome for having these give aways! Love your recipes, I haven’t bee disapointed by a single one!

  90. Melissa Hudson says:

What do I really want???? A Blendtec! LOL. I would love a day to myself in my own house. I know..not food related but that is what I want.

  91. Kim says:

ohhhhh I would love to have a blendtech!!!! My current blender bites! I would love to make your yummy smoothies 4 x a day!!!

  92. Tracy says:

Love making protein shakes but didn’t know I could make bread dough with it? Would love to get different “out of the box” ideas using the Blendtec.

  93. Gail says:

Tell you anything…hmm…you know with such an open ended question you may get a lot of information you didn’t really care for! :) However, by far my favorite smoothie might not technichally a smoothie. In our family we call it banana milk. It consists of milk, ripe banana, peanut butter, a good drizzle of honey and ice cube….*sigh* pure heaven in a cup! :)

  94. Amanda says:

My husband loves chocolate malts and we only have a one serving smoothie maker. With this one it looks like the whole family would be able to enjoy them at the same time!

  95. marsha says:

maybe I could finally make a decent frozen hot chocolate!

  96. Jackie says:

My blender is broken and I would LOVE to get such a fantastic replacement. I looked through a friend’s Blendtec cookbook one day and the options are endless. Yummy!

  97. lisa says:

have you seen “Will it Blend?”? if not, you need to stop what your doing and google it RIGHT NOW! HILARIOUS!!!!

  98. I would LOVE one of these, but they are always out of my price range! Would love to make smoothies and everything else on your list! Bread dough, really?

  99. Destinee says:

This sounds amazing! I’ve had my eye on the vitamix but I had never even heard of the Blendtec! I’d love a machine to make smoothies, peanut butter, and to grind wheat!

Thanks for all your fabulous recipes! Dinner time is way more fun at our house!

  100. Haley says:

I have never used a blender that was worth mentioning… And I’m seriously going to have to look into this one! All those things u mentioned, especially the milkshake and juice sound a-maz-ing!!!
