Winner!

Christina (#815) who said: “Oh, Mel. My blender broke a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying without it while waiting to buy a new one. I would love to win!”

Timely win, Christina! I hope you love the blender!

Because I was so overwhelmed and happy with the response from this giveaway, I sent out a second BlendTec to a lucky winner. MommaD! Congratulations and happy blending, winners!
—————————————————————–
Hi.

My name is Mel. And I have a Blendtec problem.

The issue? I can’t stop using it! Whipped cream? Blendtec. The best Orange Julius known to my lips? Blendtec. The most divine, fat-free smoothie in the world (details below)? Blendtec. Bread crumbs in an instant? Blendtec, baby.

I was gifted a Blendtec for Christmas from my very generous parents. I wasn’t super familiar with the machine (yes, a machine because it is so.much.more than a blender) before a few weeks ago but after experimenting a bit, I have officially decided that the Blendtec ranks right up there with appliances-to-save-in-a-fire (and may even surpass my much-loved Bosch – shhh!). Seriously. This thing is amazing.

Are you familiar? Do you own one? Used one? Drooled over one?

Basically, it’s one blender that can do everything from make smoothies to milkshakes, bread dough to salsa, bread crumbs to salad dressings. It does the work of at least 1,000 other machines. Ok, not really. More like nine other machines. But are you catching my drift?? It’s unreal.

So I’m giving one away. I can’t help it. I need someone else to share in my joy and excitement.

Here’s the details, to enter the giveaway for ONE Blendtec Total Blender, leave a comment on this post telling me anything you want. If you really need direction, leave me the specs on your favorite smoothie combo. I need some ideas since smoothies (among other Blendtec miracles) are becoming a serious part of my life – at least four times a day, on average. I told you I had a problem. I wasn’t kidding.

Winner will be announced Monday Sunday!

Peace out, my friends. I’m off to make the treat I alluded to above: flesh of one mango, drizzle of honey blended with 16 ounces of unsweetened strawberries. The combination morphs into the most unbelievable, tropical fruity sorbet/ice cream you’ve ever had. And we’ve eaten at least six rounds of the magic in the last two weeks. Fruit overload tummy aches have never felt so good.

{Giveaway sponsored by me. Wish I could give one to each of you!}

This is awesome! I would use this every day

  2. Lauren says:

OOoooh I would die for one! This would make my year! I have been coveting one for quite some time now, but its not really in the budget for a med student’s wife.

  3. Kim says:

Smoothies are my favorite! Add a handful of spinach and chia seeds for added nutrition (no changes in flavor…you just get a green monster). A favorite recipe that was going around this past fall was pumpkin spiced smoothies. I froze chunks of pumpkin purée and added those to my basic smoothie base. Yum! I would love to try and make hummus or other dips in the blendtec!

  4. Debbie Jensen says:

I would love to win this blender. Smoothies are a favorite at my house, they just don’t get made very often! Your recipes and website have become my favorite these last few months

  8. Shelley says:

I’ve been mocking “shakeology” starting with a whey protein base, and adding “super green food,” banana, ice, and water. Super good for you! Just think of the possibilities I could create with a Blendtec!

This would be such a treat to win. My entire family would LOVE it!

My husband and I have been drooling over the Blendtec for a year now. We need one! I recently saw this Frozen Coconut Limeade (http://chef-n-training.blogspot.com/2011/10/frozen-coconut-limemade.html) on Pinterest and want to make it so bad! I bet your Blendtec would whip this up for you in 3 seconds!

  21. Kim says:

I love to make triple berry (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries) smoothies with bananas and spinach! They are delicious and a great breakfast on the go.

  22. Jodi warenski says:

I sooo need this blender. I need something to help make baby food for my little one. I hate diluting down the cooked veggies and diluting out the nutrition.

  23. Susannah says:

Believe it or not, I have never owned a blender, and my husband has been dying for me to get one. He wants to go on a smoothie kick, and I think my kids would really enjoy some homemade milkshakes, too. :) Thanks for this. Very cool…

  24. Alicia says:

I would love one of these. My blender of 13 years had finally been put to rest. But before it died I loved to make smoothies with frozen pineapple and mango with vanilla or pina colada yogurt. Yummy.

  25. Amy says:

My poor blender has just about had its lat day. Blendtec blenders are amazing. I would certainly love one. We make smoothies all the time. You can pretty much dump anything in there and it turns out tasty. Did I read you can do bread dough in the blendtec. That would be neat to try

  26. Joey Mac says:

    Smoothies, Mmmmm
Handful of frozen mangoes, handful of frozen strawberries, some OJ and vanilla yogurt…
Problem is, my blender doesn’t work too well anymore…

  27. Tracy says:

Hmmm…anything? Obviously more money…to spend on scrapbooking and baking doo-dads!

  28. Aimee says:

I’ve never met a blender as good as you describe this one. I’ll have to check it out!

  29. Stephanie says:

My Pastor’s wife is allergic to eggs, milk, and wheat. I really want to have them over for dinner. The main meal doesn’t seem too difficult, but I really want a dessert recipe that doesn’t need any of those 3. Jello is boring to me. And I really want the recipe of whatever those bars are on the heading of your blog. Thanks!

  30. Linnea says:

I’ve been craving smoothies and this would do the trick!!!

  31. Cinda Atherton says:

My 17 year old had to be bribed into trying a smoothie with a handful of spinach in it–and now she’s a convert! She liked taking her green concoction into work and trying to convince other teenagers to try it. Those brave enough to try were all surprised at how yummy it was.

  32. My blender is on it’s last knees, the jar is cracked as is the lid which is also missing the little clear plastic insert. My current breakfast smoothie of banana, strawberries, protein powder and a dollop of yogurt and my kale, lemon, cucumber and apple breakfast alternative could be stopped in it’s tracks at any moment. It’s a matter of time before the smoke starts rising fro the base in mid~blend!!!
    Please help me!!
    Thank ~you!

  33. Sandee Bryson says:

I have been considering a new blender lately and this would solve that problem!! I makes smoothie several times a week (strawberries, blueberries, banana, spinach, and Greek yogurt). I use mostly unsweetened frozen fruit, but my blender is weak. This would be fab!!!

  34. Ashley says:

I like to sneak spinach into my smoothies to give it that extra health boost! It changes the color quite a bit, but the flavor remains the same!

  35. We have green juice drinks every morning – family of 8 and my blender is just about on its last leg. The Blendtec looks amazing. How generous of you to give one away!

  36. Veronica says:

I make “lite chunky monkey” smoothies for breakfast all the time…. 1 package of chocolate Carnation instant breakfast, 1/2 cup “lite” chocolate soy milk, 1/2 frozen banana (can use more if you like), 1 tablespoon of reduced fat peanut butter, some crushed ice. Blend and enjoy. yummy!

  37. JenH says:

My fav smoothie: Banana, carrot, pineapple, mango, orange with greek yogurt and some protein powder! Its the perfect breakfast for me and super yummy!

  38. A Blendtec is now on my list of wants. I love strawberry banana smoothies. Frozen yogurt, sweetened strawberries, bananas and pineapple juice.

  39. tina says:

Oh, PLEASE count me in for THIS giveaway!! I have a blender, but worry about how much longer the motor is going to last me. Dear Son and I LOVE to make orange julius during halftime of football games!!! (our best mother and son bonding time, with the exception of walks with the dog!) So, winning this would be a far more meaningful and sentimental prize than you might have thought! I’m crossing my fingers… And thank you! ~tina

  40. Jaqui says:

What do I want? Well a bigger kitchen and dining room would be nice. I think the dining room was more of an after thought in our current house and unfortunately we didn’t notice that until after we bought. Also, I love a new bedspread.

  41. Sherri Beattie says:

Holy Smoothies Batman it costs over $400 dollars! I love the video I kept waiting for a pulse to appear on the screen! I have wanted a new blender for a while but have been a little intimidated! This machine is the cadillac of blenders!

  42. Breanna says:

It’s sad, but I actually don’t have a blender right now…. If I were to get one of these I would love to try one of those green smoothies with spinach. It seems pretty versatile too, so I would be very excited to try that!

  43. Mary P. says:

Oh wow! A machine that does all this?? How cool is that?? I could use it when I make bread! ( No more slaving over the dough??) We make our own version of smoothies at home… sometimes as simple as orange juice bananas and cream, sometimes apples and beets, just depends on what we have around the house. Banana and chocolate ice cream and some half and half are an extreme tummy tickler!

  44. Kristy Morris says:

I LOVE smoothies!!! I make one almost everyday. Here is my recipe for a chocolate banana smoothie:

    Few ice cubs
3/4 c of unsweetened almond milk
1 tbsp of whole raw flaxseeds
    1 tbsp of almond butter
1 banana riper ones are usually more tasty
1 tsp of good quality honey
1 scoop of Juice Plus Complete Protein Powder
    Blend well and enjoy!!
About 340 calories and it honestly taste like a peanut butter cup shake :)

  45. Julie r says:

    I’d LOVE a blendtec!!! That’s what I want :)
Your smoothie sounds delicious too. Gotta try that.

  46. janae says:

Banana, pineapple juice and some strawberries. Add a little yougart and you got yumminess! (is that a word?)

  47. Jenn says:

    Mel,

I love your blog! I tell people about you all the time. I really want this blendtec to make my protein shakes. My favorite of frozen banana with oats and frozen pumpkin, cinnamon, protein powder and milk. Great after a hard workout…hope I win!

  48. lorie says:

    I love to be healthy!

  49. Tania says:

A blender that can make bread dough must reside in my kitchen!

  50. Jill Thomas says:

I LOVE this brand of products. I have an old mixer by them and it has been WONDERFUL! Smoothies, soups, milkshakes…would be cranking in our busy kitchen many times a day!
PS My favorite way to clean a blender? After using, fill half way with hot water and a few drops of dish detergent, return to blender base and give it a whirl! Rinse and you’re ready for round two!

  51. Heather W. says:

I want a blender to make amazing smoothies and ice cream shakes. I have a cheap blender that barely even blends. This sounds amazing.

  52. Katie says:

I love smoothies with any flavor of yogurt, ice and all sorts of fruit. Basically whatever I have that is in season! Delicious

  53. Tara says:

I’ve never been a smoothie fan but I’m intrigued by what else this “machine” can do. My current blender sounds like a combination between a rocket taking off and a banshee. Needless to say, I don’t use it very often. The first thing I would make would be a blue cheese dip. Very yummy with baked sweet potato fries!

  54. Megan says:

I love smoothies with mixed berries. I add low fat milk, frozen mixed berries, some honey and a little vanilla yogurt.

  55. Stephanie says:

Oh man! I don’t have a blender, if you can believe that. For smootihies, my friend just had me try PB2… it is so good. I put two scoops of that with my chocolate whey protein, half a frozen banana and some of Hood Low Calorie milk. (It gets really frothy, that milk!) It is a PB Chocolate Banana Smoothie for over half the fat and I get through my looong workout no problem. Thank you for the chance, Mel.

  56. Shawna says:

At 8:28 am, what I want is a nice cold shake to help stave off the hot flashes I am having today! Vanilla, preferably, but a strawberry or raspberry one would be just as good.

  57. Ioana says:

I want a fruit/veggie smoothie that will kick my cold’s butt. Being sick is no fun.

  58. Laura Donvito says:

    Would love this blender!
    We add:
    bananas
    strawberry greek yogurt
    kefir
    orange juice
    whole food power
    frozen berries
    spinach or kale

  59. Becky says:

Sounds kind of like a food processor and blender mix. Wonderful!

  60. Tami says:

We really love the strawberry/mango combo too!

  61. Meghan says:

Oh my would I love one of these! I sure could use an awesome blender!

  62. Anne B. says:

Enjoying peoples’ comments and their interpretations of “tell me anything you want”!!! Great giveaway….thanks for the chance to win!

  63. Fran Norris says:

I’d LOVE to have a blendtec! It sounds like it would be extremely useful with all sorts of dishes. Right now I’d like to see a yummier, healthier recipe for a pumpkin smoothie. Made one yesterday that was “tolerable.” Can you help — please? Would love to see more detox smoothies for those with “untrained” tastes…

  64. Jen LeFevre says:

My 25 year old, wedding gift Oster blender died a fateful death early last fall while making a smoothie. Since then, I have made one smoothie in my food processor to complete disgust. All other blender worthy items have been curtailed as I try to figure out which blender to buy. Since my family completely ignored my blatant hints for a blender for Christmas, maybe this will show them that good things come to those who wait. I was really considering a Ninja but you have convinced me otherwise. Loving the smoothie posts!

  65. Lynne Anderson says:

I love, love, love your blog! Thanks for all you do!!

  66. Kylee says:

I would love a blendtec! I have been looking for a new blender, since my last attempt to make a strawberry smoothie did not work. It’s never good when you can smell something burning!

  67. Lindsey says:

I love strawberries, a little oj concentrate, yogurt, and ice!

  68. J.C. says:

What I’m wanting right now is to meet our little baby…I’m due in 3 days and I’m getting a little impatient to get it over with!!
Anyway, my blender is sticking together with some pipe glue and a few other things! The blendtec sounds awesome, I’ve mostly used my blender to juice tomatoes from the garden during the summer. I freeze the juice and once i have enough to make a batch of spaghetti sauce, i thaw it, boil it down and that’s it. Simple, simple.
Also love blueberry milkshakes…..icecream, milk, and lots of fresh or frozen blueberries!

  69. gina lovejoy says:

I just broke my juicer making a juice for my daycare kids they like apple, orange and carrot. My blender just wont do that. by the way love the emails
    Gina

  70. Emily N. says:

I love smoothies! I could totally use a Blendtec.

  71. Lauren S. says:

I would love to try this for bread! I am very intrigued by this machine!

  72. Renee Goodman says:

Milkshakes, smoothies, orange julius. Me and my whole family love making these things!!!

  73. Judy says:

That would make some awesome frappuccinos! Then I wouldn’t have to stop by the Starbucks Target for one and of course when you stop by Target you always need “just a few thing” and I end up walking out with a empty starbucks cup and $100 less in my bank account.

In other random stuff, I need to decide what to have tonight for supper. Your broccoli cheese soup or your easy chicken cordon bleu. Such a hard decision ;)

  74. Laura says:

Have a 10 month old and have been making her “baby food” in our blender. It is a hunk of junk and we would love an upgrade!

  75. Kathleen says:

The Orange Julius sounds delicious this morning!

  76. Heather says:

I have a smoothie every morning for breakfast and have never gotten bored. There are endless flavor combinations available. I love to toss some spinach and flax seed in there too boost the nutritional value. My kids always request spinach smoothies now–gold star for parenting!

  77. VickieB says:

My favorite smoothy recipe is actually a protein drink. 1.5 cups skim milk + 1 scoop chocolate fudge pudding BSN Lean Dessert protein powder + 1 Tb peanut butter + 2 tsp Nutella. OMG completely addicting and as a lap band patient it has almost all of the protein I need for a day. Not the super best on calories but with something that tastes this good I can justify it most days.

  78. Laura P says:

Pretty boring, but very tasty: strawberries, bananas, blueberries and some yogurt.

  79. Shanna says:

I would love a chocolate healthy breakfast smoothie — if that is even possible! My current blender sounds like a train, and runs like a weakling.

  80. There are so many things I would LOVE a Blendtec for. Perfectly pureed smoothies, thick with delicious nutrition, yummy soups and sauces, icings, and most especially baby food. I am expecting my third and boy and I am TIRED of canned baby food from the store. Fresh is best!

  81. Erin says:

We love smoothies, but our blender really doesn’t cut it. I would LOVE to have one of these!!!!

  82. Sarah McEwen says:

One thing I love to do with my smoothies is throw in a handful of spinach. Not enough to over power it, but I feel better knowing it’s in there and we’re getting some extra greens. And the best part is…my 3 yr old still downs it in minutes!

  83. Renay says:

I love smoothies! I usually buy a pineapple for the kids’ lunches and I put the cores into a smoothie with a peeled orange, yogurt, ice, frozen berries, a little sweetener and whatever juice I have. I think Guava juice is the best in a smoothie. The Blendtec looks amazing!

  84. Brittany says:

Fav smoothie: Chocolate Milk, PB, and frozen bananas. Great pre/post workout smoothie!

  85. Sherri says:

I have a yummy recipe for Wendy*s Frosty*s but my 20 yr old blender doesn’t get it to the right smoothness (is that a word?). I would love this blender! Thanks for your wonderful website – I check it every day and have used many recipes!

  86. Lucy says:

I would be SO excited to be lucky enough to win a Blendtec! I love hiding some spinach in smoothies for me and my kiddos.

  87. Betsy says:

I would love to have one of these. Every morning, I make my smoothie in my little HB smoothie blender, and almost overheat it. I know one day I will burn up the motor and not be able to start my day, sigh. I’m in a rut and make smoothies with a couple handfuls frozen mixed fruit, 1/3 frozen banana, about 1/2 cup OJ, 1/4 cup water, and a handful of frozen raspberries or blackberries and 3 spoonfuls of yogurt. Blackberries good for flavor, but my smoothie maker doesn’t blend the seeds well.

  88. Carly says:

I need a Blendtec, my blender died a few years ago and we have been smoothie less ever since.

  89. Smirking says:

I love to make smoothies with frozen mixed berries and apple juice. I don’t have a blender right now, and I’ve heard nothing but amazing stories about Blendtec. I’d love to try it for myself!

  90. Tiffany says:

I have a blender…but sadly it doesn’t do things very well except collect dust. So calling it a blender is a stretch, it doesn’t blend it stirs.

  91. Anne says:

Oooh, shiney! My favorite smoothie is frozen strawberries, blueberries, a banana, and some spinach. I SWEAR, you can’t taste the spinach, but it is a great way to get some more veggies in a picky eater.

  92. Liza says:

Our current favorite smoothie combo is silken tofu, OJ, banana, and frozen blueberries, strawberries & mango. Both my girls love it — though Eloise still prefers your watermelon frosties to any other blended beverage :)

I would REALLY love a better blender so I could sneak some kale in (mua ha ha ha). The one I’ve got now just doesn’t cut it for hiding veggies!

  93. Jennifer S says:

Would love this! My kitchen aid blender died after 10 years.

  94. Susan Wheatley says:

Scrimped and saved for my “KTEC” blender (original name) 25 years ago. It is now on its last leg due to 25 years of smoothies (the BEST), bread dough making (yes, you really CAN do your bread dough in here occasionally), and using it almost everyday. Can’t afford a new one due to one son who just got married, one daughter leaving on a mission in March and another son leaving on a mission a couple months after that and 9 months of health problems that has left me with not working as much as usual. So, wow — yes, I would forever be in your debt to win a new machine! As for recipes, we throw ANYTHING into our smoothies — we love peach, banana, mango and yesterday we made peach, banana, blackberry, spinach (yes, just a little — still getting used to it), and strawberries and blueberries. YUM YUM! The key to a really SMOOTH tasting (as opposed to gritty) smoothie is to add yogurt. We use plain yogurt. Oh, and of course ICE to thicken it up some.

  95. Mike says:

My wife wants this! Couldn’t afford it for Christmas, but would love her to have this one!

  96. Carol says:

I would love a Blentec b/c my son hates breakfast but LOVES smoothies and this would make life easier.

  97. My fave post workout smoothie: 1 banana, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 cup almond milk, 1 handful of ice. Done.

  98. Geneil says:

I’m glad to know about this blender. My old blender was a gutless wonder–it was so frustrating to make smoothies. I ended up buying an Oster a few months ago, which is better, but not great. Last summer we overdid it with your watermelon lime slushie…so good. Now I’m just kind of experimenting and throwing everything into my smoothies. I had some spinach getting old, so I started adding spinach along with strawberries and bananas and milk. It tasted okay but the color was an unappealing grey. My smoothie secret ingredient–or maybe everyone but me knew this– is vanilla. I add it to nearly all smoothies I make and it really boosts the flavor.

  99. Stephanie Bethers says:

I would love one of these!!!! My newest smoothie is a green smoothie, handful of spinach, 1 banana, 1/2 c up frozen mango’s, 1/2 cup frozen peaches, 1 Tbsp agave nectar and some water. Very good!

  100. Amy Reeves says:

Oh, I want one so bad! My in-laws have one and it is AMAZING! We love to make smoothies with mango, strawberry, banana, orange juice, and spinach!
