Smoked Turkey Cobb Wraps

I feel a little silly posting a recipe-that-isn’t-really-a-recipe for these amazing wraps but I figure if I adore a meal enough to eat it five, yes five, days straight for lunch, then I owe you the favor of sharing the methodology.

These.Smoked.Turkey.Cobb.Wraps.Are.Out.Of.This.World.

And that’s basically all I need to say. But I’ll expound a bit more to tell you that the schmear of cream cheese underlying layer upon layer of cobb ingredients (think: lettuce, tomato, bacon, hard-boiled egg, turkey and avocado) works in a way that should be absolutely illegal. Because I’m pretty sure it was wrong on all sorts of levels for me to eat this wrap as many days in a row as I did last week (and will probably continue to do from here on out).

This easily ranks as one my favorite lunches of all time. And dinner, too, for that matter, since I was still craving it one night when dinner rolled around and served it up for the fam. The creaminess of the avocado and delicious texture of the hard-boiled egg, surprisingly, is what knocked it over the top for me. Can you tell I’m having a hard time ending this discussion? Seriously, your life will not be the same until you make and devour one of these babies.

Peace out.

*Note: My favorite version of this uses a sun-dried tomato tortilla/wrap. You can use the endless variety of wraps available (whole wheat, spinach, etc.) Also, for a delicious variation, try mixing the cream cheese with a few crumbles of blue cheese. Yum!

*Makes 1 wrap (increase ingredients easily to make more)

INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon cream cheese, light or regular
1 12-inch tortilla or wrap
2 leaves green or romaine lettuce
4-5 slices thinly sliced smoked turkey
4 thin slices tomato
1 large egg, hard-boiled and sliced
4 thin slices red onion
1/2 avocado, seeded and thinly sliced
3 strips cooked bacon, regular or turkey bacon

DIRECTIONS:
Spread the cream cheese evenly over the tortilla. Place the lettuce down the center of the tortilla. Arrange the turkey over the lettuce. Layer the tomato, egg, onion and avocado over the turkey and top with the bacon. Roll up tightly and slice in half diagonally. Serve immediately.

My imagination has just been given a jolt. I think we all aspire to such inventivemess and obvious wonderful flavor.

I believe you–this looks delicious! :)

Don’t feel guilty at all! Some of us are not as, shall we say, “inventive” in the kitchen. I need a recipe for everything, and love to have some that are easy and delicious. I’ll be making these really soon. Thank you, thank you! Your blog is amazing – I cook something from it at least weekly but frequently more often. Like dinner last night (Orange Julius and Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup).

Wraps are my go to lunch. My favorite one lately is spinach, roasted cherry tomatoes, cucumber, feta, red onion, and balsamic vinaigrette. I will have to give this one a try. It looks great!

I made something very similar for a baby shower, except I cut the tortilla into 2 inch slices so that they were more bite-sized finger foods. For me, it’s DEFINITELY the cream cheese that gives this type of recipe the addictive quality. Looks delicious! :)

Love it! I was totally craving a wrap today, and then this recipe appeared :) Better yet, I have all the ingredients (minus the turkey, but I’ll just use ham ’cause I’m hungry). My day is complete. Thank you Mel!

I love wraps, this may be wrong on so many levels but I did Baco’s. Put them on the cream cheese so they stick, great flavor and crunch, quick if you don’t have or feel like cooking Bacon. Love this flavor combination, and love your recipes.

Mel,
Those wraps look delish! But I am really writing about another recipe and I don’t seem to see an email address on the site so I am resorting to leaving a comment. I made your pudding cinnamon rolls this summer and they are WONDERFUL. I made them using a jar of yeast and I don’t remember any issues. I am making them again tonight for a brunch tomorrow and I bought packets of yeast. The recipe calls for 2 TABLESPOONS of yeast and I calculate that to be approximately all three packets of yeast. I don’t bake a lot of yeast breads but that strikes me as a lot of yeast. I already made them and I used two packets which is 4.5 teaspoons so that may not be enough…or I may be all mixed up and it may be too much. Anyway, I am not questioning your recipe but if using packets of yeast that say they contain 2.25 teaspoons per packet how many would you use? Thank you so much, I am a huge fan of your site and your recipes. Your family is very lucky to have you cooking for them. (BTW, I am thinking pink for you!)

16 Danielle January 27, 2012 at 8:09 pm

Those sound so yummy!!

18 Britt-Marie January 27, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Thank you! I have seriously been in a lunch rut! So weird that I have all of these ingredients, but would have never thought to serve it like this. Yum!

19 Mel January 27, 2012 at 10:54 pm

Jenn – I’ll still be your friend if you don’t use the avocado. :) If you don’t like them then definitely leave them out!

Heh, I’ve got cobb SALAD on the menu plan this week … maybe I should swap it out … may nix the cream cheese and use the laughing cow lite bleu cheese stuff … yummm…thanks for sharing the methodology :)

21 ce January 28, 2012 at 11:21 am

what kind of tortilla are you using, it almost looks like the tomato basil flavored I have tried before.

22 grace January 28, 2012 at 12:08 pm

this is simple yet terrific, mel! my only change would be adding pepper jack cheese into the equation–i can’t seem to live without that stuff. :)

23 Mel January 28, 2012 at 2:02 pm

ce – it is a tomato basil (I think sun-dried tomato or something) wrap. Made by Mission, I think.

24 Nevine @ Tableya January 30, 2012 at 6:20 am

I adore wraps and this one looks great with lots of flavour.

25 Joyce January 30, 2012 at 10:32 am

My family loved these!! I used the sun-dried tomato and basil wraps you mentioned…yum! But really, any flavor would do, as long as the wraps are 12 inches in diameter. They have to be that big to hold all the deliciousness inside. I loved how filling these were. We’ll definitely be making these again :)

Cream cheese makes everything better! Have you ever tried putting small dabs on top of scrambled eggs? Heaven.

27 Susannah January 30, 2012 at 5:15 pm

I made this for lunch today. Super easy and very tasty! Thanks for the idea!

28 Karen February 1, 2012 at 2:09 pm

Made one of these for my lunch today. It was really good and very satisfying. Low cal, too.

29 d February 1, 2012 at 4:18 pm

I made this today for lunch and it was delicious! Instead of using a hard boiled egg, I used a warm soft boiled one and that put this over the top. Thank you! Might be my new favorite lunch.

30 Carmen February 5, 2012 at 6:07 pm

Mel, made these tonight and they were wonderful! Thank you for posting. Love your blog and a big congratulations for number 5 on the way!

31 Michelle Watabe February 5, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Tried these first with neufchatel cheese in place of cream cheese and I was disappointed. Tried it again with cream cheese and loved it! I should always follow my instincts to avoid low fat! They were a hit at my last get together cut into 1 inch slices. Thanks for another great recipe, Mel!

32 Jen February 14, 2012 at 11:32 pm

Can’t wait to try this one!

33 Jenn February 20, 2012 at 1:49 pm

Thank you for reminding me of the wrap! I made it today with sliced chicken! I’m enjoying your site so much that my meal plans for the last two weeks have ALL been from you! Thank you a million times over for creating such family friendly and delish recipes.
