five little kids sitting inside the rim of a giant tire

Not that this picture has anything to do with anything but I guess these five little persons would make my favorite list if you had to nail me down. I’ve always said I can only handle as many kids as can fit into a mega-tractor wheel. I think the little rowdy on the end still counts. He’s mostly in.

Do you use essential oils? Right now I’m loving this hydrating cream from DoTerra (scroll about 3/4 of the way down to see it). It is fragrant and non-greasy and makes my face feel amazing. (Also, this immunity blend from Butterfly Express is my favorite of all time. Brian says it makes me smell like my grandma which I take as the utmost highest compliment ever.)

Next week, I’m embarking on something I’ve never done before. I’m leaving the five rugrats with Brian and getting on a real, live airplane (after driving a couple hours to our closest airport, of course) and flying down to Arizona to see a few of my oldest, bestest roommates from my college years (apparently that was, like, 16 years ago, although I swear I can’t possibly be that old). Sister friends (do you have friends like that?) and it almost seems unreal that it’s actually going to happen. I’m loading up my phone with books to read. Any good recommendations?

Brian got me this knife set for Mother’s Day earlier this year and I have to say, I love them (p.s. there are probably cheaper places/better shipping options elsewhere online so look around if interested)! They aren’t going to appear on any gourmet food lists or professional kitchen recommendations but from one friend to another, I have to say that after a few good months of use, I am very pleasantly surprised. Sharp and pretty.

I made these Snickers Rice Krispie treats ages ago after a friend brought some to a church activity and I embarrassed myself over them. They are probably one of my favorite rice krispie variations. I used homemade caramel sauce and semisweet chocolate chips.

It’s already starting to cool down here (which makes my upcoming trip to AZ all the more enticing). As in, snow is in the forecast. I’m not exactly sure how it could be happening so soon and it makes me very, very grumpy. The only upside is that I can wear these boots again that I bought last winter. They make me very, very happy.

And, that’s it for now. I’ve managed to come down with a terrible, awful, no good virusy cold and I kind of feel like I want to die. Someone send a memo stat to the people in charge that moms should never, ever be allowed to get sick. Ever.
