A huge thank you to everyone who entered! Man, I sure love all of your guts and will undoubtedly be throwing many of these giveaways out there in the near future.

I’m not a spontaneous person by nature. But Valentine’s Day must bring out the very small part of me that wants to live on the edge. I decided at 10:00 p.m. last night that the orange glazed chicken set to post today was just not going to cut it.
So I scrapped it and decided to honor this day of loooooove, by giving away a sweet box packed with a few of my favorite things. Humor me since a few of these are not kitchen/cooking related. They are just too fabulous not to share.
Let’s take a peek at what you’ll find inside the little box of love if you are the lucky winner:
1. This night-renewing serum is the most amazing stuff I’ve ever put on my face. My friend, Elizabeth, introduced me to these products and I am loving the changes in my skin. Loving. I am not a cosmetic/facial product junkie, unless you count L’Oreal mascara and sometimes eyeshadow so it didn’t take much convincing for me to spend a little bit more on actual skin care products. This serum is weightless and silky and light and makes me feel about 20 years younger by morning. So I want you to have some, too. Let’s be in denial of our age together, ok?
2. Like I always say, you just can’t live without a kitchen scale. From weighing roll dough to at-home science experiments with the kids, this is most definitely the only scale I need in my house (trust me, those bathroom scales can just go away, they do me no good).
3. I fully recognize that I may be the only person still living in a climate where slippers are a necessity. I’m afraid we may not thaw until June. Until then, I’ll be wearing these lovies. So cute, I kind of want to wear them to the grocery store (PS: I’m wearing them right this very instant). Plus, they are fantastically warm and comfy. They are on clearance right now so I’ll hurry and choose a winner so we can be sure to get your size (if not, we’ll come up with a snazzy replacement, promise!).
4. I really love this lotion. That’s all. Not fancy. Not shmancy. Just really great.
5. Since these are the only knives I really use anymore, I figure I ought to share the love. Sharp and pretty. What more could you ask for?
6. You’d think that these nested round cutters wouldn’t be that life-changing, but I’m telling you, I use mine all.the.time. I am in constant disbelief at how handy they are. We’re talking donuts, biscuits, cookies. I never knew I needed a 3 1/6 round cutter until I actually had one.
7. I’ve waxed poetic about this lip butter before so it’s no wonder it should appear again today. It’s glossy and moisturizing and I don’t go anywhere without it. I’m kind of partial to the Jasmine color myself because it’s pretty neutral which works for me and my afraid-of-bold-lips self. The winner can choose whichever color they like!
To enter, simply leave ONE comment on this post telling me anything you like (a simple Happy Valentine’s Day, or better yet, what you are eating for Valentine’s Day, will do!).
Winner will be picked sometime this weekend so hurry and enter!
Giveaway sponsored by me; no affiliates or 3rd party sponsored products…just some things I’m loving right now.

Leftovers at home with sick kids. 🙁
I was going to be gone for Valentines so I surprised my hubby with a babysitter for the kids and a dinner date to a restaurant in town we’ve been wanting to get back to. It was nice, although I almost filled up my starving stomach on the kids’ Mac n cheese before or late dinner. Oh well, the salad I had was delicious!
Hmmm…. I like recycling, and baking, and going to bed early. 🙂 Obviously, I am a very exciting person. And for Valentine’s Day we went to a German restaurant and I had schnitzel with spatzle. 🙂

We ate your wonderful cheesy potatoes for valentines day with New York steak and broccoli. I had wonderful intentions of making your no bake cheesecake yogurt dessert, but my internet wouldn’t work the last part of the day… so, no dessert for us… sad, huh? Thanks for all your wonderful recipes!

We have a Valentine’s party with couples every year. Cheaper version of Valentine’s date, but always fun and memorable! This year we sent the guys to find entertainment and they came back with a real bowling ball and toy pins and we bowled in the driveway!
Yes please and Thank you!!
I love simple valentines day plans. I made cupid arrow donut holes and heart strawberries with a little card for each of my three girls that said I love everything about you. And they each had a sucker by their breakfast plate that has big smoochy lips on the other end. I spent the day volunteering at in tow of my girls classes doing valentine crafts with all the kiddos. For my hubby, I bought him a card in Spanish while on a recent girls trip (nope he doesn’t speak an ounce of Spanish…I found much humor in that). Grandparents took our girls for the evening and we made raw Vietnamese spring rolls that were to die for! He made me a homemade chocolate bar card and gave me a foot rub. Sounds like a perfect day to celebrate 17 years of love to me!
We spent the night selling Girl Scout cookies at a booth sale. A box of thin mints makes my dh happy!
Happy belated Valentine’s Day! 😉

My husband’s three sisters chose this weekend, for the third year in a row, for their yearly sister/brother weekend to be at our house. Valentine’s evening we had a veggie pizza and salad and for dessert my husband and I made your red velvet sheet cake. For breakfast we had pancakes from your oatmeal pancake mix topped with
strawberries. Delicious and so easy! Think we won out on being a great B&B thanks to you.
Melissa

Happy V-Day! No cooking, we are going out.
We’ll my intentions were to make your very cool recipe for fortune cookies and put sweet little messages for my husband, 3 year old and 1 year old. While that would take too much time after making 45 valentines for my sons “school readiness” group – I opted to make red dyed pancakes. I made giant pancakes and then cut them with a heart shaped cookie cutter (after wondering how I was going to make them heart shaped). The kids were so excited for breakfast the next morning! I love those guys :)))))
??? Hubby cooking!
We went out to our favorite restaurant. It was wonderful !
Happy Valentines Day! My family loves your website! Spent valentines day in Disney and learned about vegetable gardening in Epcot!
Wow, so many fun things to love. I have to say all my valentine dinner recipes came from your website. So thanks-it was delicious and my family loved it. Movie night with the family!! Our favorite way to spend a cold, snowy winter night.
Love this giveaway! What a fun idea!!
I love food! Happy Valentines Day!
We always celebrate valentines day as a family. We do a dinner with as much pink and red as we can- salmon, pink rice, pink milk, red jello, strawberries, etc. Anyone know how to make broccoli pink? The kids love it, and we don’t have to fight the crowds at a restaurant.
My husband and I hate crowds, so we looked for a quiet restaurant which ended up being Atlanta Bread. Their chunky potato soup actually tasted a lot like your Loaded Baked Potato which is one of my favorites. The important thing was we were child-free! Love your website. Thanks for all the time you put into making our lives easier.
Valentine’s Day dessert was an epic FAIL. Chocolate zucchini brownies that were very dry 🙁 Chocolate frosting did help, but maybe I should send the recipe to you for a little tweaking and perfection 🙂 Dinner with my hubby and 2 kids was fun amd delicious though!
Thanks for the giveaway Mel! You’re too sweet! I had some fancy deep dish pizza for Valentine’s Day…one day, I’ll learn how to make that amazing stuff at home! Much love!

The Naked Italian, A blend of fresh organic vegetables sautéed in rich olive oil & robust pizza pica chino herb-blend tosses with a jar of all natural Fire Roasted Red Pepper & Artichoke bruschetta topping a bed of baby leaf spinach then sprinkled with Parmesan & Romano Cheese
I love it when you look out the window to see that your neighbor snow plowed your sidewalk for you! I’m a Minnesotan as well, so I totally get why you included slippers.

Thank you for the candle light Valentine dinner! My kids were soooo excited about it!!! I think we may have a new traditionn!

I may be too late for this amazing giveaway, but hey! We are like you and do a candlelight dinner with the kiddos and this year my husband wanted his recent favorite, your Basil Coconut Curry Chicken!
I totally failed my family for Valentines Day this year unable to make our traditional candle light dinner happen. So I am going to try and surprise them one night this week. Unless of course our house guests are here each night then it might have to wait until after the 25th when we no longer have house guests. Hope you made better memories than we did this year! (it can’t be that hard there was only one of us who didn’t shed tears this year)
Every year, my husband makes me Red Pepper Soup. Yum!
For Valentine’s Day dinner, I made my husband’s favorite: homemade macaroni and cheese and for dessert – your dark chocolate brownies. Delicious!
We are eating Mel’s caramel brownies for Valentine’s Day. And here in Alberta we have a Family Day holiday on Monday so we are having Mel’s creme brûlée to celebrate that day too.
Happy Belated Valentine’s. We had Little Caesar’s pizza for dinner. My husband and I don’t really do anything special for valentines as our oldest daughter was both that day so for the last 20 years we have celebrated her birthday. but now that she is an adult I think it’s time we start.

I love your blog! Such delicious recipes, it really is my favorite!
Mel, love your blog! Every recipe I’ve made is great. Hope it was a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
Happy v-day!
Happy Valentine’s! I made a heart-shaped ice cream cake, and then accidentally left it out on the counter… it was a nice heart-shaped cake floating in a puddle!
Had a great Valentine’s Day but now I’m cleaning house with 3 very unmotivated little boys- ugh!! Could use something to brighten my day 🙂
Happy Belated Valentine’s Day! Bf & I shared a T-bone steak with sauteed spinach and potato au gratin .
Is there anything better to eat on Valentine’s than chocolate?
We had a fun, yummy, candlelit dinner of costa vida at home for my husband and I, but we served pancakes, fruit, and ham for our little girl. Everyone was happy and well fed!
We always make steak.
We celebrated with our kids. I made chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Rosemary bread, and molten lava cakes for dessert! Hope you guys had a great night also:)
What a fun give away! Hope you had a great Valentines day!
Happy valentines day! Ate way to many chocolate strawberries!!
A family valentines’ and a date in when the kids go to bed. Last night we watched warm bodies and Austenland…it was great!
What a sweetie you are! I would love to try your favorites. As for valentine’s dinner every one is sick.. leftovers 🙁
We were going to have your vanilla bean cheesecake and fajitas, but the kids voted for heart-shaped pancakes, and I haven’t really mastered kitchen multi-tasking with 5 kiddos yet. So the cheesecake is in danger of never being realized, since the kids are inhaling the graham cracker stockpile. What I need is a great cheesecake crust recipe for when you are out of all the prepared cookie versions. Made with flour, molasses, sugar, etc. Ah well. The pancakes were yummy.
Valentines day is the bomb!
Happy Valentines Day! The 3 of us (+1 on the way!) went to a Mexican restaurant where I stuffed myself silly with those delicious warm chips.
What a fun giveaway! We had lasagna, rolls, green beans, salad, and I tried to make those fudgy chocolate cakes you posted recently, only there was no fudgy center. 🙁 I don’t know what I did wrong.
Hello! Last for V-day dinner we had: filet mignon, mashed cauliflower, roasted asparagus and mushrooms, and chocolate dipped fruit! 🙂
Heart-shaped pizza and Martinelli’s for us, followed by bathtime with the babies. It was a rambunctious evening with very little romance, but it was fun!
We were going to have heart-shaped pizza, but after a day of sugar cookie and your mosaic jello making, my 32 weeks pregnant self was happy when my husband suggested the taco truck to give me a break!
We went to sushi the night before. I hate fighting people for food!
Of Mel!! You are so the best!! What a nice and generous give-away!! We ate sugar for valentines. Pretty much all day. And that’s what my kids asked for at breakfast the next day. . . more candy please:) oh, and we ate stir fry for dinner:)
Hi Mel. I am good friends with the Baldry’s and they introduced me to your awesome site. Thanks for the amazing recipes!!!!!
Mindy
Not wanting to deal with restaurant craziness, we opted for home made quesadillas and margaritas. So yum and kid approved (quesdillas, that is).
We had your creamy garlic alfredo for dinner! Our family loves it, and it was a hit with the missionaries that ate with us!
I made pasta from scratch for the first time! It was a little…. rustic, but it was still good and my hubby liked it!
Just found your website. It looks awesome! I’m making a variety of pizzas for my boys. Happy Valentine’s Day!!
Since we have 2 little ones under the age 2 we went out for a brunch at cracker barrel and then my husband bought me a stand up mixer for valentines day! Since I have been making all my own bread since I found all these awesome bread recipes!
I made heart pancakes for the kids for breakfast. Otherwise, our Valentine’s Day was pretty low key – my hubby had a double hernia operation that morning, so he spent most of the day sleeping!
I made your awesome sugar cookies and they were a hit at my girl’s class party. Her teacher bit into one and said, ” Ahhh they are soft. I love them.” Of course I directed her to your blog that I love and so does my family.
Hope you had a great Valentines! We celebrated by going as a family to see the new Lego Movie.
Love your blog!
I’m eating a bowl of Zoi Greek yogurt (honey flavored) with toasted pecans and frozen blueberries… so good.
Just found your website. It looks awesome. I am making a variety of pizzas for my boys! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
Hi Mel,
I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t read all 3500+ comments, but just in case you do, here’s a few things for you to know:
1. I was first introduced to your website by my intro-to-cooking college professor. With all the rubbish recipes online these days, it was nice to have a recommendation for a reliable, “tried and true” (and normal!) food blog from someone who teaches cooking for a living.
2. Whenever I make a new recipe, if my husband seems skeptical, I’ll say, “Don’t worry… it’s from the lady that brought us crispy southwest chicken wraps, creamy chicken and wild rice soup, and sweet and spicy chicken. No need to fret.” And he doesn’t.
3. My sister and I enjoy reading your posts for fun. You are a gifted writer and, as a reader, I love being able to hear your voice in your writing. It’s like I can step through my laptop into your kitchen. (Creeper?…)
4. You’ve helped me progress from newlywed rookie to budding rockstar in the kitchen. Thanks for all the kitchen goodness.
That’s all. 🙂 Have an excellent 3-day weekend!
3.
4.

I cooked a surprise breakfast for he loves of my life, that they found as they woke up while I was already at work… for my big one, I prepared chocolicious chocolate muffins, and for my little one, ninja-turtles-decorated-fondant-covered-heart-shaped-cookies. He was so happy, he told me “mommy, I’m not gonna eat ’em, or I can’t see my ninja turtles anymore! I’m gonna keep ’em like.. foreva! But I’m gonna eat daddy’s yummy little cakes, that you home-made with care!”.. He always makes mommy so proud!! My little potato!! (^_^)

Happy Valentine’s Day! Since I teach in the Middle East, we celebrated with a cookie baking party for some of our students who had never had cookies before. Can you imagine never having had cookies??
My plan was to cook for my sweet husband and kids. My hubby called from work and said he accidentally took MY car keys with him to work leaving me stranded. What’s a girl to do when she can’t get to the store for groceries? So….I read a great novel called Firefly Lane. We ended up ordering pizza which my hubby was going to pick up on his way home from work. When he went in, they told him our pizza was missing….gone! 🙂 So they made a new one and delivered it instead and we got it free! <3 A successful Valentine's Day is just being around those you love, ha ha! <3
We had tacos for V-day dinner. My husband calls me Taco, so it was a fitting love meal! 🙂

I like to travel. Happy Valentines Day-I love you’re blog!
I enjoy Valentines Day mainly cause its the one day of the year! That my husband who is not good and showing affection or his feelings finally does, on this special day. He knows how much I do for him and our boys. Even with that he doesn’t exactly go out of his way for me. But he will buy a card and some flowers. But I’m not very hard to please. I just want to know that he took the time to do something for me, that he doesn’t already do. That’s enough for me! 🙂 Happy Valentines Day everyone!!!

We took inspiration from your Valentine’s Day plans last year and gave it a twist. I made lots of heartish and pink foods and my husband and I served it to our kids, plated on the fancy china and all. They loved having us be their waiters. Once we got the kids to bed, we ordered take out for us and snuggled up on the couch eating it together while watching a movie. My kids loved it so much that they requested–all year long–that we please make it a valentine tradition. So that is what we did 🙂 Thanks for the great idea!

I wish that I could say that I made one of your delicious recipes for Valentine’s Day but it has been a truly terrible week (My precious 14 year old cat, Gracie, passed away on the 14th anniversary of my Mom’s death on the 12th) and I just didn’t have it in me to cook. So…my hubby and I went all crazy romantic and went to Costco for pizza and frozen yogurt! LOL Ahhhh there’s always next year… Even if I don’t win you are too cool for sharing your favorite things!
Tonights meal featured your cheesy garlic bread. YUM! Can’t go wrong with garlic bread on Valentine’s day!
Hope your Valentine’s Day was terrific!
Went to a H.S. basketball game with my husband. That’s a nice way to show I love him, right?!
Happy Vanentine’s Day, Mel! I love your Blog. A sincere Thank you for all you share with your followers. And this Little Love Box… the sharing continues. Thanks again, and keep up the good (and I’m sure sometimes hard) work!
Besides sugar cookie galore in kids classroom parties, my husband whisked me away to a surprise date afternoon…. Hot steak and lemon meringue pie…. He did good and I feel blessed. Thank you for all your yummies Mel!
What a great give away! Thank you!
Happy Valentine’s Day! I finally got around to making your apple stuffed chicken recipe this week (bookmarked it ages ago) and loved it. Definitely a keeper!
Happy 6th Birthday to our Rilee 🙂 I like to tell people that my Husband and I love each other so much that the only day fitting for our little boy to make his entrance was Valentine’s Day.
Spent a VERY snowy day with my hubby!!
Chicken enchiladas, salad & rice. Yum!
Love your recipes, and made your slow cooker turkey breast for dinner. Delicious! Happy Valentine’s Day!
We got take out from a local restaurant. It’s way too crowded to go out to eat. Thanks for the chance to win!
Hey Mel! My mom turned me on to your blog when she was staying with me after having my first baby. I think I’ve made something from your site every week since (he is now 10.5 months old). I love to browse what you’ve posted and love your witty banter. This weekend I will be making your hoisin chicken lettuce wraps but I’m adding some cucumber, bean sprouts, and shredded carrots to add a little bit of freshness and crunch. I might also make some peanut sauce to dip them in because I love it so much. Side note: I also come from the arctic tundra that is the Midwest but am currently living in the milder climate of Utah. Good luck with the rest of the winter! I endured 18 years of it.
Food!!!
Made chocolate cupcakes and a pumpkin pie
Happy heart day! We had mushroom risotto and chicken tonight.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Thanks for always posting cool giveaways & recipes that fool my family into thinking I know what I’m doing in the kitchen! 😉
I had to work today until 6:00 so my hubby took to me to my favorite burger place. Nothing fancy as we had been away for our anniversary until yesterday but I really love these burgers so it was perfect!
I enjoyed prime rib while listening to a great jazz band at one of my favorite restaurants…Words Afterwords at Hardy, Arkansas. Desserts included carrot cake and a decadent brownie surrounded with ice cream and whipped cream. Chocolate sauce and reaspberry sauce crisis crossed the entire plate. Cheers to love!
Made your fabulous sugar cookies and delicious frosting. What a perfect treat for Valentines Day!
I made hamburgers for dinner tonight, along with grilled mushrooms and pineapple. The weather was nice enough today that my boys spent a good amount of time out on the trampoline, rather than running around the house driving me crazy while I cook.
Going out for some yummy bbq!
Hope you’ve had a Happy Valentine’s Day!
We celebrated earlier this week & I made your maple glazed pork loin and chocolate lava cakes for dessert. Yum!! We all love you and know you by name in our home. Happy vday to you and yours! And I may just break down and buy those darling slippers regardless…given my chances aren’t looking to hot with all these darned commenters ;).

Happy Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day! After a day of last minute cleaning—vacuum bit the dust the night before and borrowed one this morning—and getting ready for a homeschool Vday party with our friends at our house….our “dinner” has consisted of what was left of meatball and smokies appetizers along with veggies and dip. Not quite what I had planned for our Vday dinner, but I’m wiped. Lol
Frozen chocolate covered bananas!
Happy Valentin’s day, Mel!
I made pasta from scratch for the first time! Little roasted beet and goat cheese raviolis tossed with browned butter and poppy seeds. Served with roasted chicken and new carrots. Started with a simple arugula/pear/beet salad dressed with olive oil and peach white balsamic, and will finish with mini lava cakes and salted caramel ice cream if we ever get hungry again 🙂
Heading out of town for the weekend. Hoping to try some good local cuisine in Missoula, MT.
We celebrated at lunch yesterday, with a free coupon for a dessert at chilis and didn’t have to pay a babysitter. Score!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day! We just had a clean out the fridge night, we aren’t big into the holiday.
I recently found your blog and love the variety and tastiness of your dishes. Thank you for posts each week. I get excited to see what you have in store 🙂
Most recently I made your cinnamon roll cake. First off, it is better than any dang cinnamon roll out there! Second, after the cake came out I poked holes in it with a toothpick and then applied the glaze. It made the glaze sink into the cake which made it even more delightful. Give it a try. Third, the day after I made the cake my mother in law got diagnosed with Celiac disease. My niece who was listening while I was talking with my husband about the diagnoses suddenly piped in and said, “grandma will never have cinnamon roll cake. How sad.” That seemed to be more horrific than Celiac disease itself! (She had tried the cake the day before).
So pretty much your famous in my house and your cinnamon roll cake is what won me over!
Happy Valentines Day!
Happy v day
I love that you were thinking about us last night at 10:00! For dinner tonight we had BBQ Pulled Chicken from you, All-American Potato Salad from Cook’s Country, roasted asparagus, and Chocolate Macademia Nut Torte from Ann Romney. It all turned out delicious!

My husband surprised me with dinner when he walked in the door from work today! Hooray, because I wasn’t sure what kind of Valentines Dinner I was going to do!
I was inspired by your V-day candle light tradition. Just like yours, my boys were beyond excited! Telling people about the fancy dinner that would include candles and “fabric” on our table. So of course the entire meal was your delicious recipes. We started out with Garlic Knots and a Garden Salad course 2 was Chicken Cordon Bleu, Rice Pilaf, steamed veggies, and your yummy dinner rolls. The last course, my favorite, was your Chocolate Molten Cakes with Vanilla Ice Cream. Thanks for making me a rockstar in the kitchen and the coolest mom ever, according to my 4 boys!! I seriously love you!!
Happy Valentine’s!! Chocolate Molten Fudge Cakes are in the oven right now- yummmm!
I had dark chocolate filled with carmel for dinner and broiled asparagus drizzled with olive oil, sea salt and parmesan for desert. Do I win something?

Heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy’s! 🙂
I met my sweet hubby on Valentine’s Day and every year he makes me dinner (seafood of some type). So I’m not sure what will be on the menu at our little house 🙂 but I’m sure it will be wonderful!
Spending Valentine’s Day with my hubby in the hospital tonight. He can’t have anything to eat today so I’m just giving him a whole lot of love! Had his colon removed so I’ll be looking for yummy recipes with low fiber for him. (Does being one of your Aunt Marilyn’s good friends help out.)

Happy Valentine’s Day to me EVERY year is my husband getting my first box of strawberries from the strawberry stand…this is far better than a flower arrangement for me. It’s the splurge I don’t always make on myself and the kick off to my favorite season in So. Cal. that lasts til Labor Day…STRAWBERRY SEASON!! Woo hoo!! He didn’t disappoint this year. Tonight when the kids are in bed we’ll enjoy fabulous strawberries with real whipped cream. Delish!!

We started out this day of love with my fab breakfast of banana blueberry lavender muffins ( my own recipe) and for dinner your fab. Salmon with maple and pecans. Thanks for the great recipes never had one go wrong.

Heart-shaped chocolate chip pancakes this morning; out to dinner with hubby tonight. He had the most amazing risotto…I should have ordered it! Love this blog… Happy Valentine’s Day!
My friend Bob and I got eggplant parms tonight and I got us dark chocolate covered organic strawberries from the chocolate shop ( hand dipped ) , we drove to our little downtown and walked to the boardwalk. We live on the east coast of southern Florida so it was warm enough to sit out at a picnic table tonight and look out on the St. Lucie River, and watch the full moon rise over the Atlantic while we ate our dinner , we could hear the various bands start to play at the restaurants along the boardwalk on the river . It was quite beautiful . We then went for a walk and stopped a few different restaurants and sat outside and listened to the music and watched the people walk by and the boats and listened to the sounds and walked back along the board walk was quite a beautiful and ‘happy ‘ night out on our little town. Delicious food and good company .
I cut out tons of paper hearts and spread them all over the house. By 6:45 this morning my little girl was saying “This is the best Valentine’s Day ever!” We had a candle light dinner with leftovers and it was awesome. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Happy Valentine’s Day, Everyone!
Pepper steak
Happy Valentines Day. I am making a “fancy” dinner for my husband and three beautiful daughters. Surf and turf with crispy smashed potatoes and asparagus. The girls thought it was like a “5 star restaurant”. Too funny!
