Over 100 Recipes that Don’t Require an Oven!
Well, I don’t know about you, but summer? It’s hot.
And even with my newly acquired refurbished window air-conditioning unit, my house is still a sweltering 80 degrees and I dread the thought of turning on my oven to get dinner on the table.
Many of you have emailed asking if I can recommend some fast, simple meals for summer that won’t heat the house up to sauna-registering levels.
In that spirit, I compiled all of my main dish recipes that don’t require an oven into one place.
There are over 100 of these babies!
In fact, this gigantic list will be ever-populated as I make more recipes fit for summer so check back often.
If you are interested in pinning this for future reference, pin from this page (yep, the one you are looking at right now) since category pages like the one you’re about to check out don’t have pinnable images.
Hallelujah for simple, keep-your-house cool meals!

Very good, messed up cause i added chicken bouillon and it came out yo salty. So my fault. Still ince i fixed it and ate it with cauliflower mashed potatoes, it was heaven.
Bookmarking this!!! Had some electrical issues in the kitchen and still dont have a working oven or fridge. Had to get a mini fridge and put it in the bedroom! Having only a microwave and stove top limits things, so finding this site made my day!! Thanks for sharing this compilation…
Thank you for posting this! Our oven broke just 2 days after moving into our new house, but the stove top still works (go figure). I have been looking for no-oven recipes when I stumbled across your blog. It’s everything I wanted and more! Looking forward to making the black bean taco soup tonight for dinner!
A lot of these require an oven, it’s bull s#!t
Not really, you weren’t looking close enough. Watch you language as well.
Some of them require a stove and im not allowed to use that so would i use a microwave?
Some of us are kids…please remember that when you pull out your grown-up language.
Woah, can’t wait to try these recipes, thanks for all the ideas 🙂 Have a nice day !
I’m so happy to find this! I live in an old mobile home without working central air. In the summer the window unit goes in the kitchen window to cool the kitchen and living room areas, so I don’t use the oven at all. Thank you!
I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought
this post was good. I don’t know who you are but definitely you’re
going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already 😉 Cheers!

Oven Installations
Heaven sent post! I just moved to Arizona from Michigan and I was searching for recipes I could make without using my oven! I LOVE YOUR BLOG!! And I use it all of the time, but I was searching elsewhere on line because I needed to find good summer recipes. I checked your blog again today and found this post!! THANK YOU!!!!!
I had forgotten about so many of these recipes and am excited to make them again. Just added the white bean ragout with sausage and kale to my list, as well as the vegetable skillet lasagna and am still going through the list. Thanks again.
Mel, This is perfect! Thank you for compiling the list.
80 degrees is sweltering? Oh, my! You’d hate my house then, as we keep it at 80 in the summer and 78 in winter. We elderly are frequently chilly when you young ones are warm. I just got up and got a light cotton knit sweater, actually, and it is 80 in here right now. I wouldn’t mind a oven cooking right now. Our electric bills are low, though, in the summer. That’s close to 20 degrees cooler than outside temperatures frequently are here in Florida, so it really does feel cool to us.
Oh perfect! Thank you! Thank you!
This post is a must! Thank you for sharing!
I use my crock pot all the time during the summer! Just leave it in the garage and you’ll never heat up your house!!
YOU are a saint. Going to check out the list now and get to cookin’ more in my skillet!
We start our kitchen remodel and demolition on Monday and I’m already panicking about cooking in the laundry room for the next 6 weeks. Thank you SO MUCH for this post. So many wonderful things I can make with my electric griddle and Wok. Yay!! Thank You!!
Thank you!! Will be referring to this list often!!!
Hallelujah! I can hear the choirs of angels singing. I just sat down to make a menu and a grocery list for this week. Our swamp cooler has NOT been cooling off the house the last few weeks and I have no desire to turn on the oven (or the stove for that matter). And yes, we have a swamp cooler. I really appreciate that you use white, plain plates for your photos. You really let the food take the center of attention and I like that. You make me a rockstar in the kitchen on almost a daily basis. Thank you!
you are so awesome! Thank you!
I am so happy you posted this!! I was looking for a list just like this the other day. But this list is better than any I found since I know I can make any one of these and it will turn out 100% delish! Thanks Mel 🙂
I’m so glad you did this! I am always searching for your recipes for the ones that don’t require an oven and this will make it so much easier. Thank you!
