Wood and Pellet Grill Giveaway

I told you on Wednesday things were going to get good. And today = good. Very, very good.

I’ve teamed up with my buddies over at OutdoorCooking.com to offer this scream-worthy giveaway. As you probably know, pellet grill/smokers are all the rage right now. Everyone is talking about their superiority over propane or charcoal grills and smokers. I’m not going to officially enter the debate (that would be like me shouting advice at the ref during a football game), but I will tell you that after using this beauty to make several of my favorite grilling recipes, I’m sold. Big time.

Wood and Pellet Grill Giveaway

If you are unfamiliar with pellet grills, they differ from traditional propane or charcoal grills in that there’s no open flame, they use electricity (so no propane tank), and the heat is fueled by wood pellets that feed in automatically (well, you do have to pour them in first). Because of all the digital controls (again, won’t get into that lest I sound like a complete techie wannabe), the temperature is automatically maintained for maximum (that means yummy) results. There’s a port for the meat thermometer (included) and you can change the display to read the meat temperature or the temp of the grill/smoker. Because I’m lazy, I can stay in my house and peek out the window to see when it’s time to come grab the vittles.

In fact, if you don’t want to, you don’t even have to flip the meat while grilling. It cooks that evenly. AMAZING!

And that’s just the grilling part. It can also do a number on slow-smoking your favorite meats (the pellets come in all the traditional smoking flavors: applewood, mesquite, hickory) and it’s innovative design does most of the thinking for you. Huge relief.

I love this thing. It has found a permanent home on my front porch and literally we’ve been using it nonstop. It heats up quickly and can maintain temperatures upwards of 500 degrees (hello, grilled pizza) and Brian’s already dreaming of the smoked brisket and ribs he’s going to make in it.
