Top 10 Most Popular Recipes of 2019
I love looking over the past year to see which recipes ended up being the most popular, most made, most highly reviewed.
Sometimes I’m surprised by the results! And this year was no exception.
An extra million bonus awesome sauce blog reader points to any of you who have made every single one of these!
What has been your favorite recipe this year??
P.S. I haven’t had time to respond back to all of your comments on this post yet, but I have read every single message and have been brought to tears many, many times. I am so grateful for every single one of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your genuine kindness and goodness.

I get so excited to see your new posts with more new food ideas for my family. This year had so many great recipes! I would love new ideas for meals to take to sick families. I feel like trying to make something portable and that a whole family can all enjoy is hard for me. I know you will have so many good solutions!
Thanks for all of your inspiration!
I am late commenting but how in all that is good in the world did The Best Cinnamon Rolls not make the top ten?!? That recipe is a gift (and a curse perhaps to healthy eating plans.) Also, the Instant Pot Creamy Baked Ziti is on regular rotation at our house. But on the stove top since I don’t have an Instant Pot. We eat vegetarian quite a bit so that is such a perfect recipe for our family. My kids have named it pizza noodles because the first time I made it they thought we were having pizza for dinner. (And I agree it does smell quite a bit like pizza.) And a final shout out to your Swig cookie recipe. Unsurprisingly I think yours is the best recipe I’ve tried for them.
I feel like I am messing out on so many recipes. The only one I have tried that made your top 10 in 2019 is the Mexican Street corn salad. And my husband made it ( more then once) on his day to cook. You have actually changed his life by giving us so many new recipes to try.
Thank you so much, Jody!
We have made and loved so many of these! That smoothie recipe is made at least weekly at our house and you know how I feel about that precious Bundt bread. Happy New Year, Mel! And thanks for all the delicious recipes.
So many happy people all because of you sharing that recipe, Madison!!
I’ve made 7! The smoothie recipe is on repeat around here, as is the mexican street corn salad! A few of my friends make the Buddha bowls now, too!
How have I not made those chocolate cookies and the cake? I need to get on it!
As always, thanks for all of your hard work! My family and church community eat a lot better with you in my life <3
Oh my gosh, Becky – if you’ve made seven, you NEED to make the cookies and cake for sure!!
I have been making the Mexican street corn salad on repeat for every gathering I go to and it is a HUGE hit! The Buddha bowls with the peanut sauce are a huge hit here too. My husband didn’t like peanut sauce until he tried your recipe!
Thank you so much for your amazing recipes. I’ve made so many of them but haven’t commented. You are my ‘go to’ for amazing recipes. I appreciate you so much! Happy New Year!
I love hearing feedback like this, Holly – thank you!
Egg roll skillet is life!!! Seriously that meal is perfection. And one of the ones that I can proudly make in the amount of time you SAY it should take to make. (I’ve been improving at how quickly I can chop an onion.) Upping my rockstar status one diced onion at a time!
Love you forever, Mel. Thanks for being part of our lives!
Haha, way to go, Annie! I feel like I’m a slow onion chopper if it makes you feel any better. 🙂
Thank you for all the wonderful recipes! I live far away from my family, but my sister and I both follow you and we have a wonderful time sharing and chatting about our favorite recipes with each other. It brings home close to me even though I live far away. Thanks for all you do! Both for my stomach and my heart
Thank you, Heidi! I love that you and your sis stay connected even though miles and distance separate you!
Thanks for putting this together! I am wondering if you might consider a “most popular of the decade” post for recipes that have really stood the test of time?
Hey great minds think alike! That one is going up right now! 🙂
I’m so proud to say that I have made 8 of these 10 recipes and they have ALL been a huge hit and family favorite! Thanks for making my world such a better place! Xoxo
Love you, Beth!
My husband has NEVER been a smoothie drinker…UNTIL I shared your recipe with him earlier this year, and, now, he makes that smoothie for breakfast about 3-4 times every week. (He’s always been a Protein Man for breakfast, but that meant eggs & meat, typically.) He’s astonished that he isn’t hungry for so long after drinking it. We always have the ingredients now. We each have our tweaks. I add some plain Green Yogurt, and sometimes leave out the spinach. He’s made it w/ blueberries when we run out of cherries. (Also, side note, why are frozen cherries hard to find? I can only find them at Costco or Trader Joe’s. I think it’s odd that Sam’s Club nor any of my regular grocery stores carry them. Is that an Atlanta thing, or are they hard to find nationwide?) I am always amazed at how much that smoothie tastes like a chocolate milkshake! It really is better than any other smoothie we’ve ever made. As always, thanks for sharing.
I’m in the Northeast and I find frozen cherries in my regular local supermarket
This is amazing, Kim! I’m so happy your husband has found a deep and abiding love for that smoothie recipe! Love your variations and tweaks. I agree with you on the cherries. I can only find them at the same two places you can!
Winco!
Crème Brulee French Toast, where have you been all my life? Finally made it (both Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas morning)….WOW!!! My young adult sons sounded like little boys again, “I call the last piece!” “No, your piece was bigger!” The most well received recipe EVER (well, since they grew out of Oreo Anything!)
So happy you loved that French toast, Sandra!! And please give me some hope that my teenage boys are going to grow out of the bickering-over-food phase! Haha!
I’ve made 7 out of 10 but tasted 8 out of 10, my sister made the chocolate cookies and shared, haha! I loved the chocolate fallen cake and the buttery pull apart bread. Oh and the street corn salad, yum!! My hubs and I liked the breakfast casserole but our kiddos did not unfortunately. We’ve tried a few different breakfast casseroles with them and they don’t really care for any of them, bummer!
Darn it! Why do kids have to be like that??
🙂
I love the Buddha bowls, the pork, and can’t wait to make the skillet meal- and I just learned that the buttery rolls can be made GF successfully!!! The tater tot casserole is on the menu Saturday for my child’s baptism celebration. So excited to serve it to people! Mel, you and your all-around amazingness continue to influence my life for good. Prayers and love for you and your family. Happy New Year!
I would love your GF recipe for the buttery rolls!
I saw that same GF comment on the pull apart bread, Amy, and I’m excited for you! Thank you, friend!
Thank you for continuing to post the best recipes ever! My family loves anything I make from you. My picky 9 year old daughter begs for the egg roll skillet weekly and the buddha bowls are my all time favorite. Your Crazy Good Korean Beef Tacos are another favorite at our house.
I actually think those crazy good Korean tacos are one of my favorite meals of all time.
I love, love, love your lasagna soup!!
Thanks, Corrie!
I love the Buddha bowl and that street corn salad is what I take everywhere. It’s so good!!!!
I’m glad you’ve found winners in both of those recipes!
My favorite is your leftover turkey and wild rice soup! It is the best I have ever eaten! I’ve made it twice from leftover turkeys. The homemade stock takes it to heaven. I love it. Thank you!
So happy to hear that, Karen!
Love, love, love 1,2,3. Can’t believe I haven’t made 8,9 yet.
Get on that, Beth! 🙂
I don’t normally comment but wanted to say that I’ve made the fallen cake and the double dark chocolate cookies. Both are amazing, especially the cookies. I made the cake for my mum, who can’t have gluten and she (and everyone else) really enjoyed it. The cookies are amazing. I’ve made them quite a few times! So rich and delicious and freeze well. I may have to make them again now! Thank you for all you do. I know I can always count on your blog for good, consistent recipes.
Thank you for taking the time to comment, Ruth! I’m glad the cake and cookies have been a hit!
The egg roll skillet meal is my favorite for this year. Followed by Mel’s Buddha Bowl. Both recipes are easy and SO flavorful. Everyone in my family loves the egg roll skillet and I have given the recipe to so many of my friends. It’s definitely a winner in my book!
That egg roll skillet meal is something else, huh? We eat it every couple of weeks because it is so easy, so fast, and EVERYONE in the fam loves it.
I have not tried any of these recipes except for the rio pork but now I am! My family loves the Korean beef tacos!
I love those, too, Christine!
That egg roll skillet is a tasty but quick meal that is a welcome addition to my tried and true recipes and everyone I pass it along to has raved about it!
Love reading this!
Happy New Year Mel!
The #1 recipe…..Buttery Pull Apart Bundt Bread…….has been a blessing and a curse. I made it immediately upon seeing your post and was blown away by the ease of making it and the incredible results. I felt like a yeast goddess. I actually let mine rise next to our wood stove and it works brilliantly. I made the bread for Thanksgiving and it was requested for Christmas dinner and now I am being hounded to make it for New Year’s!! HELP!! All I hear is, “when are you making that bundt bread again” or if I ask for a suggestion all I hear is, “we don’t care; just make the bundt bread”. If I hear BUNDT BREAD ONE MORE TIME…..AAAHHH!! It is seriously the absolute best bread recipe ever and is my go to recipe from now on. Thank you for sharing this brilliant bread recipe and if it’s the last thing I do I am going to hunt you down like a dog and gift you a BUTTERY PULL APART BUNDT BREAD!!
Haha, loved the “yeast goddess” comment. Yay!! Although it sounds like you might need to get some crowd control bodyguards so you aren’t hounded to make it all the time! 🙂
