- penne pasta - ground beef - onion - salt - black pepper - tomatoes - tomato sauce - brown sugar - dried basil - dried oregano - garlic powder
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente, according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
While the pasta is cooking, cook the ground beef, onion, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper, in a skillet set over medium heat, breaking the meat into small pieces as it cooks.
Return the pot to medium heat and add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, brown sugar, basil, oregano, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper.
Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes. Season to taste with additional salt and pepper, if needed.
