Friday Thoughts: Life Lately
Hello, hello! I am attempting a comeback on these Friday Thoughts posts and am determined to make them a monthly thing for the rest of the year! They are some of my favorite posts…and I’ve missed them (and you!).
Since it’s been so long, I’ll just dive into a quick recap of life lately and share a few things I love – all while trying not to go too deep OR ELSE WE’LL BE HERE FOREVER. 😜
As always, my favorite part of these posts is to know how YOU are doing, so share your life lately with me in the comments, as well as any things you are loving right now!
Summer, Summer, Summer!
We took a family vacation over spring break, so the kids were realistically prepped that this summer would largely consist of work schedules and not vacation schedules. 🙃

Both my teenage boys living at home (16 and 17) are working full-time at different landscaping companies. One is in the shop of his job learning and doing small engine repair and the other is out doing lots of mowing, weed whipping, building retaining walls, etc.
My youngest daughter (13) is living her best life spending a week at grandma’s house and then coming home to make and sell cookie dough to earn money for a tennis racquet she really wants, work on making her first quilt (a really simple design we found on Etsy here), and playing a lot of tennis. Thirteen is a really great age – as her brothers remind her daily. 😉

Brian and the boys are heading up to Alaska to go deep sea fishing with my dad and several cousins and uncles in July, but otherwise, we are here at home base, and I am not mad about that. The garden needs tending, and the kids are bottle feeding a calf that was born to one of our cows on our property – so that’s a daily investment of time.
Mission/Grad Updates
My third son, Cade, graduated high school last month and also received his mission call (for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) to New Zealand Wellington, Tongan speaking. I think we were all a little shocked! My dad served a church mission in Tonga way back in the 70’s and never thought he’d have one of his posterity be able to speak the same language. It’s very exciting (and a lot of work helping with the visa paperwork and gathering clothes and supplies).

My son serving in the Philippines (Manila mission) has been out for almost a year. He is thriving in the midst of very remote living conditions, and we love talking to him on Sunday afternoons (his preparation day is on Monday, but because he is so far ahead of us time-wise, we talk to him on Sundays).
Sidenote: Hands down, all my boys’ favorite ties are these ones (gifted to us originally by my sister-in-law, Mary, and they’ve been my go-to ties in packages and prepping for their missions).
Favorite Things
- these are my favorite jumpsuits for summer: loose, flowy, soooo comfy
- cutest dress: the blue color is stunning! It’s roomy (I’m usually a medium-ish and I have it in small)
- comfy crop denim jacket: this is probably a better item to share for cooler weather, but I love this jacket! It has stretch to it, and it is really soft and comfortable. I have it in the light blue color. The crop isn’t severe – I think the length is perfect for dresses, especially.
- fun bracelet: I’m not a huge jewelry wearer, but I was influenced on Instagram to get this bracelet, and I can attest that the thousands of reviews don’t lie. It’s fantastic, and I always get compliments on it. Sometimes I pair it with this one when I’m really dressing up. 😉
- really great sandals: these shoes are a bit of a splurge, but they live up to the hype (I have them in the natural color) – they are also available on the Born website. I have worn them everywhere from sightseeing in a small mountain town to church to kid’s tennis matches. They are insanely comfortable and so cute dressed up or down!
- hands-free mop and bucket: ok, so kind of a departure from the fun light fashion recs above, but this mop bucket has saved me the last few months. I’ve struggled with hand/wrist pain for months, and wringing out my other mop by hand was killing my fingers and hands. This mop has been a lifesaver for me! I’m still using it even after my hand pain has started to improve.
Quick Note About Work and Blogging
I know things probably look the same on the surface of my website, but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes. Most of it is a little too techy/boring to share here.
However, I greatly appreciate your patience if you notice posts or recipes or formatting looks a little wonky over the next little while. I am working feverishly to get everything in tiptop shape.
In the ever-evolving quest to manage family life and work life and all the life in between, I am at an exciting but also overwhelming point with food blogging. I have a long list of ways to improve my website so that it continues to be a long-lasting resource for tried-and-true recipes. My mission that started me out on this blogging journey almost 18 years ago is still the same: giving you the best recipes of my life and staying true to who I am in the process.

Because my website and business has grown in ways I never could have imagined, it is looking likely that in the very near future, I will be hiring someone to help me with some work-related tasks so that I can continue to focus on what I love the most: creating content, taking photos of food, and posting and writing about those recipes. I am very, very excited for the future and all the recipes and content I have to share with you. 💗
1-Year Anniversary
The amazing launch event for my cookbook was almost exactly one year ago!
I am still overwhelmed with gratitude when I think of the hundreds of you that showed up that night (you can see a snapshot video of the event here) and the thousands of you that have bought cookbooks over the last year. Your messages of how you use and love the cookbook are a treasure, and I read each and every one of them.

Thank you for all of your support; it means so much to me.
Speaking of cookbooks, I just pre-ordered these two cookbooks, and I am so excited to get my hands on them!
- Sally’s new upcoming cookbook
- Amy’s showstopper sourdough cookbook
And that’s a wrap on this Friday Thoughts post! Longer than I anticipated, but I’ve always been a talker, what can I say. 😉
Thanks for being here, friends.
Remember to chime in below with anything and everything on your mind and heart right now! I am here for it. 🤍
Love your Friday posts and love your recipes. And thank you for your inspiration. 💕
Thank you, Janet!!
These are my very favourite posts even more than the recipes though I love those too. What a lovely family you have! It’s exciting watching the kids grow into adulthood. 🥰
Thank you, Diane!
Hi! I Just wanted to share some love! That last picture is me and my daughter – we’re absolutely beaming! You’ve been such a wonderful part of our lives. We actually have way more than three cookbooks now – my adult boys each snagged their own copies, and we’ve bought even more since then! Seriously, thank you so much for all the joy you bring to so many people. You’re such a bright light.
We love you so much!!! That’s my daughter and I in the last picture. You have been such a huge blessing in our life, we have 3 cookbooks in the picture but have purchased more since (my boys all wanted one!!)
Thanks so much for being a light in so many lives.
I LOVED meeting you and your daughter, Robyn! I still remember it distinctly! Thank you for your love and kindness and support. It means so much to me!
I always love hearing about your cool life! Congrats on the new mission call. What an adventure!
We’re in the midst of swim team. In fact, I’m poolside right now, waiting for 5-6 boys 25 yard relay. 7-8 boys will be right after. Both my swimming sons keep improving their times! My oldest is on a plane with my husband flying home from a week in Ghana. We’ve loved the pictures and stories they’ve sent home.
Our family’s new favorite treat is Lemonies from your cookbook! My kids request them pretty much every Sunday (my official “cheat” day–though every day is an actual cheat day).
Thanks for all the yummy recipes and the great update!
Melissa
Busy, fun summer, Melissa! World travels for some of you and lots of swim team!! I have friends that participate in swim team, and it is BUSY! So happy you love those lemonies – a true favorite here, too!
I love your cookbook. My family has a Marco group and one of us is always sharing recipes. 90% of them are yours.
I LOVE your Cowboy Cookie recipe and serve them at Disciples Kitchen frequently. When my homeless friends see that I prepared the meal they always ask if we’re having “those special cookies).
I’ll save some of my comments for another time. I’ve got a squamous cell carcinoma between my nose and eye that will require some plastic surgery. I have been so comforted and inspired by your story (and yes, even your yucky pictures).
Love, Jennifer
Jennifer, thank you for taking the time to comment! Truly. That is so heartwarming about your service at the Disciples Kitchen – happy those cookies are a hit! Also, many prayers coming for you in regards to your squamous cell carcinoma. If you ever want to chat about it, please reach out via email…I don’t have a lot of answers, but I would be happy to be a listening ear.
Hey Mel! Love to read your Friday Thoughts and all that is going on with you. It’s a joy to read! Here’s a dress you may like, based on what you shared with us. I bought this a month ago and got so many compliments when wearing it! They have lots of other cute dresses on their site too. https://www.quince.com/women/cotton-poplin-tiered-maxi-dress?color=navy&gender=women&tracker=collection_page__%2Fwomen%2Fbest-sellers__All%20Products__4
Hope you have a wonderful summer! Thanks for all you do!!
That dress is so cute, Kristine!! Thank you for sharing the link!
I love reading your Friday Thoughts just as much as your recipes! I was first introduced to your blog via your cousin (Brad Smith) during our BYU day…and it’s never let me down! I hope your family has a happy summer.
Oh, love hearing that connection, Kaitlin!! Thank you for sharing that!
Mel, I was reading in the comment section that you are using some red light therapy for your hand pain. I wonder if you have a recommendation for some type of wrap. I am having some foot pain and I would like to maybe try something like that for my foot. Lots of choices on Amazon.
Hi Teresa, yes! I’ve been using red light therapy wrap for my hands. It wasn’t cheap, but for me, it has been 100% worth it. I have this wrap/pad from Novaa labs. https://novaalab.com/products/new-red-light-therapy-pad-at-home-with-remote
Oh my gosh, Amy is my sis-in-law and the MOST amazing baker. I’m excited to get my hands on that book, too! My oldest is prepping for his mission (waiting to get braces off so he can send in his papers this fall) and I am so not ready!
So fun that you are related to Amy – she is amazing!! (Good luck with your son’s mission plans and prep!!)
Hi Mel,
It means a lot to me that you share your faith in a public arena! I also love my faith! It really is love that makes the world go around but good food brings people together! Thank you for all you do to make the world a better place!
Warmly,
Kelly
Thanks, Kelly!! Appreciate you.
Love Friday Thoughts. Have a great weekend.
Thanks, Jill!
I admire you and your family. You have taught your children ethics and values.
Thanks, Mary – doing my best…but definitely seeing some of the fruits of my labors are watching my kids make their own choices. 🙂
Hi Mel, Your family is all grown up and beautiful! I have followed you for years and have won local county fair awards with your recipes! God is good!
That’s amazing, Pamela. Congrats to you!!
Hey Mel! I’ve followed your site for several years and my family loves everything I make that comes from your cookbook!
I have never commented but when I saw your son got called to Nee Zealand, I had to comment!
My parents are currently serving in the same mission- they love it! Good luck to your son!
Oh, that’s amazing!! I hope they overlap and that my son can meet your parents!
I love Friday thoughts! I have been here for a long time, and wish we were next door neighbors. Love, love your cookbook…although not all my favorites made it in 😉. Going through your Cooking 101 printable with my kids this summer and we do a bake sale every summer and you guessed it…all cookie recipes from you! Thank you for all your hard work and for keeping it real. Balancing all the things is hard, but hearing your Friday thoughts reminds me we are all doing the best we can! Thanks again!
You’re amazing to use summer time to help your kids learn cooking skills, Annette! Good luck with your bake sales – how fun! And I agree, not all my favorites fit into the first cookbook! Ha. Guess I really do need another.
Wow, your kids are so grown up now! I remember when they were so tiny and when your daughter made her appearance. What a fine-looking crew you have. I’m sorry you are having hand/wrist pain. I have that, too, and it is not fun. Hope it feels better. Congrats on 18 years…can’t believe that much time has passed. Your blog is as wonderful as ever.
Thank you for being here, Maria! I remember those good ol’ days, too. Crazy how fast time goes.
Those strawberries look PERFECT!! And that makes my heart so happy that your daughter is making a quilt! ❤️ I am a quilter and have a longarm quilting business. If you ever need any quilts quilted, I would be happy to do it free of charge! I feel like it’s the least I can do after the YEARS of recipes. This is my third summer as an empty nester and it definitely doesn’t feel the same as a house full of kids! But special too! Now I have grandchildren to come over and get to spoil! Have a wonderful summer with your family!!
Renee, after all these years of seeing your awesome comments pop up, I didn’t know that about your quilting business! I would never, ever ask you to quilt free of charge, but I may definitely hire you to help! That’s the hardest part of quilting (I’ve used my sewing machine a time or two but it’s a nightmare). Happy summer to you, too! I bet your grandkids love to come over and get spoiled. 🙂
I somehow never realized my 3 kids match up with 3 of yours! I have a 13-year-old girl, a son who just graduated and is waiting for his call, and another son who has been out for almost a year. 🥰 Makes me kinda happy to know someone is probably feeling all the things that I am! Plus more for you! Have loved your blog for years and years, but I didn’t buy a cookbook bc I have printed out so many of your recipes already that I pretty much have a book!
Thanks for all the inspiration and for being real.
Oh how fun is that, Janelle! Love that we have kids similar ages. Thanks for being here!!
Hi Mel! I’m not sure how you are going to go about hiring someone, but I would be interested in working for you. Just putting it out there.😊
Thanks, Laurel! I’ll definitely put out a job posting when I have it all ready!
I ordered that dress so fast, it’s perfect. Thanks for sharing. I love these updates! And yay for one year of your amazing cookbook, can’t wait to see what you do next, big or small.
That sourdough cookbook makes me think I will for sure start making sourdough if I buy it…but you haven’t steered me wrong yet!!
Ah, I hope you love that dress, Amanda! It’s so comfy. And Amy is the QUEEN of sourdough. I am so ridiculously excited for her cookbook so I can start making more sourdough!
Mel, I love the Friday updates, and congrats on all the big changes for your son. Thanks for sharing so much of your time and talent with all of us.
Thank you so much, Lynn.
Hey Mel! Always enjoy your Friday Thoughts posts! I’ll keep looking forward to them! I just ordered that Stevie Patterned Midi dress in blue like yours and it’s so pretty I had to try! Also got the Rosario Tencel Midi Dress in Denim! Being in MN, I’ve never heard of this company so thanks for the fashion tips! Still LOVING your cookbook! 😊❤️
Thank you, Shannon! Love my MN friends.
It’s the comfiest dress; I hope you love it (and the other one you ordered!).
Congratulations on your son’s mission call! My dad served in Auckland. My parents traveled to New Zealand 45 years later with my brother as their chauffeur. My brother contacted us with: “Dad’s a Rock Star! Somebody named their son after him!” There’s a New Zealander out there named Marvin!! I hope your son will be warmly welcomed too, as he shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!
Oh, that is such a fun story!!
Love all of this and really everything you do! You’re the best!
Thanks, Nicole!
I love the updates! You don’t know me, but since I found you back when it was My Kitchen Cafe, and my son is a bit older than Cam, I feel like you are the mom leading the way for me. Sharing bits of managing the teen years with your boys (high school looming! oh my.) and how you fit in all the things is wonderful. Thanks for sharing so much with us.
Oh gosh, don’t follow too closely what I do, haha, I mess up more than I get things right, that is for sure! But I feel like you deserve a major award for being here since the blogspot days. Seriously!! Thanks for being here, Courtney. Truly.
Mel – I love your recipes and website! Thank you for all the great recipes! I have pain from arthritis in my hands and use “red light therapy” to keep the pain down and the arthritis from getting worse. I injured my knee on vacation and thought it would need surgery as I couldn’t do stairs without pain (or not using that knee to pull) but the red light had it fixed after about 3 rounds of 10 minutes each. It really promotes healing! Anyway – it’s saved my bucket and I had to share. You can buy a cheap light on Amazon but my chiropractor has one I use as part of my visit fee.
Hi, Arlene! Yes!! I have been using red light therapy for the last several months and it has made a tremendous difference in my carpal tunnel/hand pain (and for my knee) so it’s really validating to hear that you’ve had the same experience. Thank you for chiming in!
Love your Friday Thoughts and updates! Love your cookbook and “Mel’s Kitchen Cafe” hoodie. I also have printed out our favorites from your website and realized from the date on the printouts that I have been following you for over 7 years now. I try to make one new recipe every week or two to add in to the rotation. As we speak I have the Fresh Strawberry Cream pie chilling. Thanks for all you do. I love getting your emails with new recipes as well as your entertaining comments. You are my friend in the kitchen. Your recommendations/Favorite Things/gift ideas have also been helpful. Have a great summer!
Ah, Kim, so glad you are here after all these years! You are my friend, too! I really feel that way about all of you who visit here. Hope your summer is wonderful, too! And REALLY hope you enjoy that pie!
Weed whipping is a new one for me!! I’ve heard of weed whacking and weed eating (which my Cali husband says and does a lot of) but never weed whipping I’m gonna try it on him and see what he says. I’m home for the simmer too!! Due with a baby the first week of September but hoping to coax her out late August!! Cheers to a *simple* summer!!! (With my three little kids arguing in the background) 😅♥️
Haha, someone else mentioned this below. Maybe I just grew up calling it that? Now I’m super curious what everyone else calls it. 🙂 Let me know what your husband says when you throw out “weed whipping” casually in your next conversation. 🙂 Congrats on your 4th baby – amazing!! (And more amazing on ignoring the arguing, haha)
Congrats on a thriving family and business. As the mom to four boys, I have used your recipes for years. And now my granddaughters and I can share your cookbook! I love that families can now see and talk to their missionaries. Those were some long scary times in the early 2000s.
I’m so glad you are here, Linda. Thank you! And yes, times have changed with missionaries. We love being able to chat every week. Grateful for that for sure!
Love the Friday thoughts! I’d love details on how your daughter is selling cookie dough (portion it into balls and freezing? one big tub? packaging options?); my daughter wants to do the same this summer to make money for a disney trip she is taking for dance next spring.
Lynne, hi! So our cookie dough system is pretty simple. My boys sold it when they were her age, too. The kids settle on 4 “flavors” – usually the recipes below. And then they spend a couple days making it, scooping and rolling it into balls, freezing it (we freeze it on sheet pans first), and then putting 12 frozen cookie dough balls into quart-size ziploc bags. We print off simple labels that instruct the customer how to bake “preheat oven to 350 degrees, place the cookie dough several inches apart on lightly greased or parchment lined baking sheets and bake for 13 to 14 minutes if frozen or 10 to 11 minutes if thawed” – something like that. They keep the freezer stocked and we just get the word out to neighbors, friends in the area when they have cookie dough ready to go. They have some very loyal customers!
Hi! Thanks for the ideas on selling cookie dough — my daughter would love to do this too! Did you share the recipes that you’ve found well and I missed it below? If not, can you share which ones freeze well for selling & baking later? Thank you, as always!!
Sorry! Forgot to link the recipes we use:

Thank you so much for this! I keep putting it off, and we just need to go for it. I have major imposter syndrome when it comes to selling my baked goods despite positive feedback. Not something I want passed down to my kids so we’re just going to do the dang thing!
Ok, I just ordered the mop. How did you know I was needing a recommendation? (Woulda been happy to replace the sponge mop head of my still great mop, but the world has moved onto different mopping systems it seems.). This makes me feel old and creaky. But glad to be moving on and checking the box of “replace mop”. Love your recipes as usual. Gotta few from your last post on my make soon list.
I’m feeling old and creaky right along with you, friend. I hope you like the mop! It really has been great for us. If you have lots and lots and lots of floors, you may need to dump and refill (or maybe your floors aren’t as dirty as mine, haha), but it really has been a lifesaver for my hands.
Love these updates! Keep ‘em coming! ❤️
Thanks, Joy!
Alright, alright, which island did you go to for spring break? And was it magical? That’s what we all need to know.
We just got back from Maui and my kids fought like feral pirates the whole time but when they fight on an island, it is so much better than at home. 😂
Hahahaha, made me laugh out loud. I saw this hilarious meme with a photo of a family vacationing that said something like “how can you put a price tag on your children being ungrateful in a different city?” ANYWAY. We actually went to Cancun! First time there. We went to a Dreams resort and it was great! I’ll be honest, not sure I’d go again, but my advice should be taken with a grain of salt because I much prefer mountain vacations over beach vacations AND I don’t like leaving my house. My kids and Brian would go back in a second. The beach was gorgeous and my kids could not get over the all-inclusive food aspect (again, it was our first time experiencing something like that!).
So good to hear this life update. I’ve made your recipes for years. All of my friends and family just assume that anything amazing I bake or cook has to be one of your recipes (and 90% of the time they are entirely correct). You feel like a friend who I’ve just never met. Thank you for your recipes and for being a bright light in the world. My son is currently serving in Japan so we talk to him on Sunday as well – best thing ever!
Thanks for being here, Stephanie! I love the “Sunday pday chats!” Hope your son is doing well!
I love your blog and your cookbook!!
Thanks, Lindsay!
Those strawberries look wonderful!! And I just ordered the mop bucket system!
Woohoo! I hope you like the mop bucket!!
My son just received his call to the Philippines Manila mission and starts in August! Thanks for the updates.
Oh how exciting, Kris! Feel free to email me (contact@melskitchencafe.com) if you have any questions about clothes or specific things to send with your missionary. We’ve learned a lot! I hope our kids’ paths cross out there!
Awesome updates! So good to hear about what’s going on with you and yours 🙂
Thanks, Christine!
Love these updates! I have two boys that have overlapped for one year on their missions. It is so neat to have brothers out at the same time. Sounds like you will have the same!!
Thanks for the recommendations – I love so many of the things you’ve shared in the past.
Thanks for being here, Heidi! Hope your boys are doing well! Excited for my boys to overlap and communicate as missionaries together. My oldest son served a mission for several months before returning home early…so I recognize that there aren’t a lot of “time” guarantees on a mission, but I have learned that there is growth that happens no matter the length of time served.
I have missed your face and your voice! It is so great to see how well you are doing in your beautiful life! Sofi still misses Cam! I wish we could see each other again.❤️
Love and miss your guts, Luisa! COME BACK!
I really enjoy your blog and have for many years. I’m having a hard time with the fact that your kids are so big! Your daughter – I remember when she was born and now she’s so tall! Thank you for sharing your life and your delicious recipes.
I’m having a hard time, too, Lynda! I get it! It’s crazy that my youngest two kids weren’t even part of our family when I started this blog. Time really is a thief. This feels like a strange summer with the “older kid” schedules. Trying to wrap my brain and heart around it all.
That’s so cool that your son is going to learn Tongan! My husband is Tongan but I only know enough to figure out what he’s saying. My kids are upset that he didn’t teach them to speak it. We have been to Tonga 4 times now and it’s beautiful! I would love to visit New Zealand. Our daughter served in Australia and we did go to pick her up; we were afraid she wouldn’t come home otherwise! She love it! Good luck to your son. It’s the best having kids on missions!! And I don’t have your cookbook yet, but I do use a LOT of your recipes!
Haha, I’ve heard that from other missionary families with kids serving in Australia or New Zealand. That may be the reason we go pick him up, too! 🙂
Love your Friday Thoughts. Keep up the good work 🙂
Thanks, Susan!
I love your cookbook, Mel, and have followed you for many years. I own your cook book but also have another cook book of redoes I printed from your site over the years. I can’t believe you haven’t already hired someone- your content Is amazing, I’m impressed you’ve keep such integrity while balancing all you do as a momma! I’m thrilled for your missionary boys and your family. Keep going, you wonderful human!
Not redoes, recipes
Ah, Becky, you are the sweetest. My sister does work for me (about 10 hours a week) and she’s invaluable. But I do think it’s time to maybe look at more help. Thanks for being here!
Weed whipping? Like using a string trimmer? I’ve never heard it described that way!!
Oh, haha, I forget that this is a little like the “soda” vs “pop” discussion. We always called it weed whipping (yes, using a string trimmer). What do you call it?
Our niece is serving in New Zealand and our son heads to the Philippines this summer (Laoag). He is nervous about learning the language so it’s nice to hear that your son is doing well!
Oh, Megan, good luck to your son! The language is difficult for sure and I think a lot of missionaries are nervous about Tagalog (I know I would be!). My son has said that he feels like the reason he was able to learn it ok out in the field is because he decided just to talk to anyone and everyone even if he messed up. Being fully immersed has helped him a ton (even after nine weeks in the MTC, he got out to the Philippines and didn’t understand much – but it gets better!!).
Love Friday thoughts! Can I be your daughter – send me to grandmas for a week, and work on quilting and cookie making all summer?? 😊 I’d love that! Haha!
Hahahaha, wait…I also want to go to grandma’s for a week! No one invited me. 🙂 🙂
I love these Friday Thoughts posts. What a fun stage of life we are in! I have less kids than you, but the same age as some of yours. My oldest is on a mission in Japan so we get to talk to him on Sundays (Monday for him) and it’s so perfect and I’m grateful it worked out this way. My 16 year old has his own lawn mowing business and my 13 year old daughter is doing cross country. This summer we are opening a soda shop/bakery in our town! We are so excited and it’s been in the works a long time. I’m buying that mop bucket for our shop today.
So fun that your son is going to New Zealand! Looks like you guys have a full, busy, and fun summer.
The description of your summer life sounds so familiar to mine in a lot of ways, Madison! Good luck with the launch of your soda shop – wow!! That is so exciting!
Good morning Mel,
Oh how I’ve missed these Friday Thoughts posts. Your blog is such a fun and welcoming place to visit. You are always so open and honest, have great product recommendations and the BEST recipes:) I am actually baking your Rocky Road Chocolate Cookie Bars for the first time this morning. I cannot think of a recipe of yours that has ever let me down. If I am in need of any recipe, yours is the first place I start. I am a registered Home Processor since 2022 and we relocated last year to a town within the same state (but 4 1/2 hours south of where we’d always lived) and I joined a Flea Market and have been hauling all my baked goods to sell there on the weekend. The hubs is my assistant and fry daddy (for the homemade Old Fashioned Donuts) and we are having a blast meeting all the other vendors and customers. Several thousand people can visit on a single day if the weather is good. Also trying to spend time with our two grand babies. Both are in pre-school until the end of June. Our 5 year old grandson only lives one mile from us so we see him often and he spends the night most Friday nights. Our 4 1/2 year old granddaughter lives 30 minutes away, so we’ll see her a lot more once school is done. So yes……they are the reason for the relocation:) All in all, life is good and God is great! I hope and pray that you and yours have a truly amazing summer and enjoy every moment surrounded by those you love.
Vicki! What a wonderful comment. Thanks for taking the time to leave it! (I hope those Rocky Road bars turned out well for you!) You are amazing with your bakery business – WOW!! So much work! But I love the connections you are making. Your grandbabies are sure lucky to have such wonderful grandparents!
