Here is where I’ll detail my “BEST” recipes. I probably have over 50 recipes for cookies on my site…but if you want to go straight to the best chocolate chip cookie recipe, I’ll detail it here for you.

The best whole wheat bread? I’ll tell you. Brownies? Got it right here.

I’ll continually be adding to this resource as I try new recipes.

But I want you to be able to have a one-stop guide to the best recipes so you don’t have to spend hours searching for something simple.

Click on the category heading below to see the “best of” that lies therein!

    Hi Mel,
Just wanted to let you know that I came across your sight a couple months ago when a friend shared one of your recipes on Facebook. I have absolutely loved it! My kids are not picky eaters, but it is hard to find a source for recipes that are all so family friendly without being boring or unappealing for adults. I have used shared recipe sites for years, but it seems like I’m playing constant Russian roulette trying to find new recipes on those sights. Over the last month (while using almost exclusively recipes from your sight) I have finally started meal planning, picking up groceries after ordering them on-line once a week (highly recommended!!), prepping meals in the morning right after the kids leave, and putting meals together in a snap at dinner time. It is nice to feel the excitement of caring for my family at meal time, saving money, and having new recipes to look forward to. I have a huge stack of recipes that I will continue to make again and again. Even the recipes I wouldn’t make again are all good and worth making at least once. I haven’t come across a recipe that I was disappointed with yet. I rarely leave comments on-line in any form, but I had to reach out and say thank you! Keep up the great work!

Please put me on your daily email list.

Thank you SO MUCH for your *BEST* chocolate cupcake and chocolate cake recipes. Every time I bake them, everyone raves about how soft and moist they are. They truly are the best recipes for chocolate cupcakes and cake I’ve ever come across. I can’t wait to try all your other best recipes!

  4. Laura says:

Hi, Mel! I’d love to see a Best Slow Cooker category!

  5. Kate says:

I seriously love your recipes, Mel. Thank you so very much!!!

  6. This page is such a great resource for me when I am meal planning. I make so many of your recipes. I know that you are incredibly busy, but it would be so awesome if you could compile some of your favorite meat-free recipes. I only plan a meat meal once a week since our grocery budget is a wee bit pathetic.

  7. Sandra says:

I’d love to see a best Breakfast roundup. I’m in search of healthy wholesome stuff, that isn’t only cinnamon rolls, etc. But I love those too!

  8. Lucy,10 yrs says:

I love your recipes!!! They inspired me to make my own recipe book. I really like your “best chocolate chip cookie” recipe. I made them with my friend and then we watched a movie while we ate them. they’re so AMAZING…

    Thank you!

  9. Beth says:

I love how easy and yummy your recipes are and I always seem to have the ingredients on hand! I too, would love to see a Favorite Salads tab, as I live in AZ and would love some “No Cook” tasty meals!

  10. Mamalala says:

I love looking at this section. I have made so many of your recipes that they are always my go to. I wish you would create a best “Main Dish Salad” category as I would love to know your personal favorites. I have made so many of your salads! So yummy!

  11. Andee says:

It would be awesome if you could do a “best of” for crockpot’s! Thanks for an awesome blog! Always looking to it for great and yummy ideas!

  12. Kristy says:

I stumbled upon your website after a friend shared your recipe for Chewy Gingerbread on Facebook. I have to say, after only one week I have already made 4 of your recipes with many more to try in the coming weeks. I have 3 children and a very hungry husband and while I love to cook, it can be hard to find inspiration everyday. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas!

  13. Shannon says:

I want to vote for YOU as my favorite survivalist/prepper website, because if the world comes to an end and I have to cook from scratch, then by goodness, I’m cooking like this!!! All of your recipes are amazing! BTW, I stumbled on your site while trying to figure out what the heck I was going to do with the bucket of wheat berries I had stockpiled. After reading your post, now I’m actually excited about cooking and eating and grinding wheat! I was also excited about your DIY cake flour recipe! I love easy kitchen “hacks” when I don’t have exactly what the recipe calls for. Thanks so much!

  14. Stephanie says:

Mel – I would absolutely love a category for your best slow cooker recipes! What do you think?

  15. Lindsay says:

I love your blog! When it comes time to sit down and make our bi-monthly menu I always stop here to get ideas. A lot of people look to pinterest for ideas, but you never know if your can trust the source of if it will turn out. Not the case here! Thanks for the inspiration and keep the greatness coming!

  16. One method of reducing the house advantage is to sweep the casino, which is gambling in short
amounts of time. It’s true that smoking is mostly very enjoyable, even comforting, for you.

There’s also a French roulette, a version which is most close to the
original roulette game invented by Pascal.

  17. Laura says:

I keep looking for the best salads!! Any favorites??

  18. Kelli says:

Hi Mel. I’m a huge fan of yours and am on your website almost daily. I’d love to see a roundup of meals that are great to take to someone (new baby, home from the hospital) and also a roundup up of make ahead/freezer meals. I think these would be a huge hit on your site. Just an idea. Thanks!

  19. Lindsey says:

You need to make a cookbook. I would buy one for myself and every friend that is recently married in a heartbeat. Cooking is hard to figure out at first and you have saved so much wasted time, energy, and frustration! My husband would agree that a MKC cookbook is a MUST HAVE. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Mel says:

You are too sweet, Lindsey! Thank you for the note. I think a cookbook would be fun but my family would disown me (try as I might, I cannot find how to get 12 more hours in a day!).

  20. Kelly says:

Mel, we love you. I have tried multiple recipes from your main dishes to side dishes to desserts and everytime, it is some of the best food I’ve ever made. Our favorite is your potato soup & cheesy basil chicken. My boyfriend is a firefighter and every shift he makes one of your recipes for the guys and they think he is some kind of gourmet chef. You are amazing!! Thank you so much for putting your time into this blog. It is my go-to cookbook! Happy Easter!

  21. Elizabeth says:

I tell all of my friends about your website and that I wish I had had this when my children were younger. Nonetheless, I have made so many of your recipes and love them all. They always turn out and are easy to make. I love the ideas, menus – it is all great. So thank you so much and keep up the good work!!

  22. Smilebhappy says:

Three things 2 look for in a “Great” site r: Cheap recipes, quick, and flavorful!
Cheap because I’m old and on SSI:)
Quick, short memory plays havoc with ya sometimes! [ not really ] , and last but not least flavorful ..[ make two freeze one] So
This is one of the most complete sites I have found. Every recipe my friends and I have tried, are wonderful.. We meet once a week, the freeze one is brought and exchanged. Yep, yep we have tried most of them.
Continue your inspired site Again thank you so much for the time and effort!
Gods Blessing on you and your family!

  23. Natalie says:

The fudgy brownies are my favourite! ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Joy Smith says:

I’ve just made the Magic choc. Flan. When ever I make a cake that needs a “release ” factor, this is the recipe I use. I did not come up with it, but have used it for ever.
    1/3c. Oil
    1/3c. Flour
    1/3c. shortening
Mix in blender, & I keep in a glass jar in the fridge. Use a pastry brush and coat the pan with this mixture. Things really come out easily. Hope this helps someone else.

  25. Lora says:

If your family doesn’t run to the table, maybe it is time to take an honest look at your cooking routine and see if you have fallen into a menu rut. Generate some mealtime enthusiasm and put a smile on your family’s faces with some fresh new ideas that are sure to please.

  26. Barbara says:

Mel, I have to tell you, I think YOU are the best of the best food bloggers. I am an older woman who has cooked for a family, and now just the old Hubs and I, for over 50 years. I am an avid food blog follower, but after trying lots and lots of new recipes, it is yours that win a spot in my recipe files more often than any other. The best chicken fajitas? Oh, yeah. The best sweet and sour chicken? No doubt at all. Why hasn’t the food network scooped you up? So many of your recipes are healthy, for one thing, and having to be on restricted diets can mean really boring food, but I am thrilled to have such great flavor without unhealthy ingredients, and your recipes are just a godsend for us. Thank you for putting some fun and excitement and tasty new treats into the lives of a couple who truly appreciates them!
