I'm Back and Ready to Celebrate!
We have finally moved in to our house. It has been a whirlwind two weeks of moving across the country. Until today I haven’t had any access to the internet (thank goodness for being able to schedule automatic blog posts!), which is why I haven’t responded to your comments and been commenting on any blogs lately. But I promise to get to them soon. After I lay on my couch for a while and detox from all the unpacking, that is.
Enough complaining, what I really want to do today is celebrate! Celebrate that my kitchen is unpacked, that I have actually been cooking and baking again (wahoo!) and celebrate that I am back to blogging.
If there is one thing that unpacking, which I loathe, has done, it has made me realize what things I love. Especially kitchen things. I was practically kissing and hugging my citrus reamer, silpat liners and perfect white platters just from having been without them for so long.
In honor of being back in the blogging world after a crazy move (did I mention that all four of my kids came down with strep throat and ear infections??), I am hereby giving a shout out for two of the kitchen things I unpacked this week that I can’t live without…and I am giving away one of each to two lucky winners!
Here they are (drum roll, please):
Silpat Liner: oh my, I am not exaggerating (and if you know me, you know I love to exaggerate) when I say I use these babies at least three times a week (I have two of them). I line my baking sheets with them every time I make cookies, breadsticks, french bread, rolls, etc. I love them. A lot. They are absolutely nonstick and make clean up a cinch. I’m giving away one of these beauties.
Digital Scale (Salter): If you haven’t been converted to weighing your ingredients, now is the time. For any recipe that gives weights and measures, I ALWAYS weigh. It is accurate and precise and provides practically no-fail results. Plus it makes me feel very culinarily scientific. I have a Salter Digital Scale. I heart it. I’m giving away one just like mine!
Leave me a comment telling me your favorite kitchen item (or just saying hello) and your email address and I’ll enter you in the contest. Only one entry per person, please. Contest ends Friday at 6:00 pm CST. I’ll announce the winners that evening.
By the way, this contest isn’t sponsored by any company. Salter and Silpat (Demarle) have no idea who I am and would probably be embarrassed to know I am waxing poetic about their products. It is simply because I love the products and want to share them with you. Okay, bye now.
Kitchen Aid mixer.
I just started cooking and baking (more) when we moved a year ago, so I have a limited supply. So the only tool that I have is my KA mixer, which of course I love!
oddly enough it is my cookie scoop. it is so much easier when the cookies are all the same size. 🙂
btw, i’m excited that you moved (back) to wisconsin. my hubby and i just got back from a vacation there, and are thinking about relocating there!
My favorite kitchen item? Hum… probably my knives. I use them every single day without fail. Although I would really like a silpat!

This is hard I love so many tools that I use in the kitchen but I would have to say the item I use the most that I love are my cutco knifes
My garlic roller… sounds wierd I know, but its a round little holder with wheels, you stick garlic inside the round area and roll it like a toy car, the blades inside mince the garlic perfectly… you don’t have to touch the garlic and get stinky hands, not to menntion you get to play with a “toy car”!

My recent crush is my meat mallet. I love to take out my frustrations on a piece of meat.

Love your blog…I think the thing I use most is my mixing bowl with a rubber bottom so it doesn’t move. It’s just the right shape too so that stuff doesn’t go flying when you are mixing in it. twinsej @ gmail dot com
I love my rice cooker! And I really want the scale.
My favorite things to use are spatulas. I have many, in different colors and sizes. I go through 4-5 a day!
Enjoy settling into your new home. I love your blog, I refer to it all the time!

K, not kissing up, but your blog recipes and other recipes from my favorite sites and magazines. If I didn’t have them no tool would work well for me.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with the dutch oven this summer. It’s great to cook outside and the food is always tasty. Thanks for the great recipes! chelseywestergard@yahoo.com
My favorite kitchen item is my cutco knives, followed closely by my kitchen aid mixer. The knives are a dream come true.
My favorite kitchen item might have to be my set of Wusthof knives…haven’t found any knives that work nearly as good as this set!
I love my Kitchen Aide and also my Nicer Dicer!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Congratulations on being moved in. What a relief. I enjoy using my kitchen aid mixer along with the 100 thousand other people who like it! It does make things easy.
I absolutely LOVE your food blog! I love that you explain how to make things so well, have amazing pictures, and post do-able, real recipes.
I would love the digital scale. Ever since I did a food science lab that showed the variance that comes with measuring cups, I agree that weighing is the only way to go!
I could not live without my kitchen aid, I love it!

I love my computer–that isn’t even close to my kitchen, which gives me the opportunity to try recipes from all sorts of people I would never get to know otherwise. And my hundreds (almost, but not really) of silicone spatulas! Can you really have enough of those?

Two of moy favorite things are my kitchenaid mixer and my lemon squeezer.
I love my stone bakeware from Pampered Chef … it is truly amazing stuff!
My favorite kitchen item is my mixing bowl with the rubberized bottom so it doesn’t slip around. . . but I could use a new favorite! jillsstorey@yahoo.com
My favorite kitchen item is my bosch mixer- can’t live without it!!
cpwhatcott@msn.com
I love my bosch and couldn’t live without it!! Brooke Pickeral pickeral@q.com
goodness my bosch is at the top of my list too; right alongside my bakers pin and parchment paper.
I’ve thought about converting to weight but I only have a manual scale so I haven’t mustered up the motivation to take it out each time I bake. Must do something about that…
Oh so many things I love…I think I have to agree with Destiny – I love my Bosch!
I LOVE your blog!! I really my food processor!! Couldn’t without it!!
Fabulous!! My favorite kitchen item is definitely my Calphalon chef’s knife – I use it everyday!
I love the my zester/grater (hand-held, long) from Williams Sonoma. I use a LOT of parmesan. 🙂
I love the recipes you put up in the blog! I’ve tried many of them and have had great dinners/desserts! My favorite kitchen item would have to be my beloved Kitchen Aid mixer with its 5-gallon mixing bowl…best wedding present ever!

This is Kenna (Bennion) Smith from back in the days of MT:) I’ve been secretly obsessed with your blog since I found it (via blog stocking Billings people…I know, I SHOULD be ashamed) and have been trying just about every recipe you’ve ever posted…all the while feeling guilty that I have never left a comment. Well there’s nothing like free kitchen gear to make me come out of the closet and admit my obession. So THANK YOU for making especially dinner time something to look forward to and for making it Impossible to lose any weight because of all the YUMMY treats:) Thanks again!

Believe it or not, I added a huge metal bowl to my kitchen this year and honestly don’t know what I did without it. I use it almost every day. cammihawker@hotmail.com
I love my KitchenAid Food Processor!
I love my Bosch!! Everytime I almost buy the Silpat liners I have wimped out, but maybe it is time! natj621@msn.com
Welcome back! I MUST have my kitchen aide mixer! Not only do I use it all the time, BUT, just looking at it in it’s fabulous red glory makes me happy!
I don’t really have a favorite kitchen item.
I love a good cutting knife!
lyndsi_sandberg@hotmail.com
I have to say my favorite thing in the kitchen is my sharp cutting knife. I have no idea who made it, but I like the slight curve to the blade and the handle fits nicely in my hand. It saddens me that I went so long with out a good knife. krburr82@gmail.com
My favorite item is my cookie scoop!! I make cookies alot for people, and I love it!!! Love your blog!!
I can’t live without my Bosch! I use the blender just about every day. I also love the way the mixer kneads the bread dough for you!
dddg81(at)gmail(dot)com
BTW- I just love your blog!
The one kitchen item that I love and can’t live without is my Zyliss chopper. I use it all the time to chop, onion, nuts, carrots, boiled eggs, etc. Anything that I don’t want to chop with a knife and you don’t have to touch the food. Which is really good for onions. Really hope I win! My email is kishi10@hotmail.com
I love my pizza stone, and mixer. I would love the silpat mat. I have heard they are great.
I love my cookie scoop! It is perfect for cookies, muffins, cupcakes, you name it! Thanks for the giveaway!

It would have to be my Pampered Chef stone. I use it for most baked goods and pizza.
