Six Recipes the World Forgot {Part 3}
If you’ve missed it, each month over the last several months, I’ve been sharing six recipes that seem to have been forgotten by mankind. These recipes are some of my family’s favorites but are sometimes overlooked in the deep recesses of the recipe archives, thanks to other hotshot recipes taking center stage all the time.
Today’s highlights are worth making. In fact, I think I have each of them on my menu plan over the next two weeks (especially that granola which Brian requests daily). Check them out – you won’t be sorry!

Hello,
Our family business, Mooney Farms, is the largest producer of sun dried tomatoes in the U.S. under the Bella Sun Luci label.
I have been reaching out to bloggers to see if they would be interested
in receiving our media kit and free product samples in exchange for either
an honest review for their viewers, or inclusion in a recipe on their blog.
If this is of interest to you please e-mail me back and I would be happy to get that right out to you!
Sincerely,
Lisa Mooney
they all look delicious!!!
Oh my goodness, so glad you posted these!
I made the Chocolate Oatmeal Bars and they were awesome. It seems almost wholesome with the oats…health food? 😉 I wish! I want to keep the ingredients for them on hand when we need a quick and delicious treat.
We had friends over for supper and she asked what to bring for dessert and I mentioned the Heath Cake. Also awesome!
Thanks for the winners, Mel!
We made the coconut cashew granola over the weekend for GC, and my almost 13 year old daughter said, “If I had to choose only one food that I could eat the rest of my life, it would be this!!!” High praise! It was gone before the end of GC that day 🙂 Thanks Mel! I also made the Heath bar cake–so yum! Thanks!
Gasp!! The bars and salad are two of our FAVORITES!
cannot wait for that tomato bisque!
Let me just second that the Tami’s Rice and Bean Salad is one of my favorites. Definitely should not be forgotten.
The oatmeal chocolate bars are wonderful!!!
yumyum! would love to try out that tomato bisque soup!
That granola is amazing! We love it! I use peanut oil instead of Canola (because it is GMO) and it is wonderful! We also use Craisins instead of Raisins! SO DELICIOUS!
Those oatmeal cookie bars are one of my favorite recipes ever. I have made them SO many times and they’ve always been ridiculously popular.
I made the Rice and Bean Salad just two weeks ago and I’ve made almost every skillet recipe you’ve got on your blog. The Heath Bar cake is definitely going onto the “to-try” list. My birthday is coming up, maybe I’ll make this for myself! I keep finding new things to love about your blog. Thanks!
The granola IS the best! It is a regular staple at our house. I change up the cashews a lot though with pecans instead.
I CANNOT believe that the world would forget the oatmeal chocolate chunk bars! This is my absolute favorite–gotta take something to RS in an hour treat!
Mel, Just wanted to let you know I made your Carrot Cake Cheesecake for Easter dessert and it was a huge hit! Perfect recipe, easy to do and deemed a keeper recipe. Thank you!
The granola is the best! My husband always lets me know when we are running low on his favorite cereal…
Great idea, Mel! My husband is always requesting dishes that I made years ago and totally forgot about (meatloaf, chicken parm, etc.) Saving your oatmeal bars and skillet chicken parm to try soon. Thanks!
I actually made those Chocolate Oatmeal Bars last week! They are wonderful and I highly recommend them to anyone who hasn’t tried them yet!
The Heath cake is one of my all time favorites. I still make it monthly. It’s not forgotten.
I’m going to try your chicken parm first! I love how your posts often show what you made 1, 2, and 3 years ago. Even if I’m not really interested in the new post, I usually find something from the past that I want to try. Its one of my favorite features of your blog!
Just so you know, I have not forgotten about Skillet Chicken Parmesan. It’s on my menu for this week, and my family always devours it. Ditto with the Southwestern Barley Chili–that stays on my recipe radar as well. Thanks again for this excellent site. It’s been a big help to me as I plan family meals.
Love, love, love it when you do this. I have made several from your last posts. That granola looks yum! Will be making that today! Thanks Mel!!!
