Top 12 Recipes of 2012
Here they are. The Top 12 Recipes from 2012. Just for fun, along with the recipe that garnered the most hits that month, I also included my own personal favorite recipe from the month. Your pick and mine. (You can think of it as a two-for-one deal, if you’d like.) Take a look (click on the pictures to go to each individual recipe). And don’t blame me if you find yourself weeping at the delicious possibilities.
See you next year (I love saying that!).

I haven’t ever commented before, but I have to agree with everyone here…I love your blog and I have made many of the recipes on it. I started it when I experimenting with yeast breads, and then my husband was diagnosed with Celiac…so now we are gluten free. Needless to say, I don’t make your yeast breads anymore, but many of the recipes are perfect. The recipes are really down to earth (as in I can find most ingredients) and you have just the right blend of “from scratch” so that they are easy to adapt to gluten free cooking. Thank you so much. One of my favorites from this past year was the Enchilada Soup…I have made it for family and friends and they have all loved it. Thank you again for all of your work on this blog. It has been SOOOO helpful.
Bruce – fixed, fixed, fixed! How’s THAT for fast service, eh? 🙂
The link when clicking on the picture for the dessert pizza is broken. It is for me.
I did a Google search for “Hawaiian Haystacks Recipe” almost three years ago and found your blog–the first recipe blog I ever perused and I’ve been through dozens since then but yours remains to be the one I most frequently cook from and is my go-to for every single time I have a dish to prepare to take somewhere. You rock!
Also, when I saw that our pick in June had the word “healthy” in it and yours was a pie, I cracked up.
This is awesome!
The rustic bread is the best! So easy and to die for!!!!
This is such a great idea! Please do it every year!
bluebaker – I’ve tossed around the idea of a cookbook many times and perhaps next year or in the future?? Who knows! I’ll be sure to make a big announcement if/when it happens.
What a wonderful post! We have made several of those, and they are so delicious! Can’t wait to try the others!!! Have a Happy New Year!!
Hi Mel- your website is the greatest! It keeps me inspired when I get in a rut about what to make for dinner. I’ve even started having people over more often because your recipes are practically fool proof. Would you ever consider printing a cookbook?
Blessings to you and your family in the New Year. Don’t you just love a brand new calender- a fresh start.
Thanks. That is so much fun. Many of my favorites are up there! Rustic Bread, Dulce de Leche, Quinoa Patties, and for tops-Coconut Curry Shrimp! I feel like a chef when I make that! I actually call my friends and say, “I made this, come over and try it!”
For online recipes, I rely on yours, and yours alone, Mel! I appreciate all the work you put into it.
Mel – Your site gives me so much inspiration! Not just for meal ideas (although that’s certainly a huge reason why I visit the site!) but also just as a reminder that you can plan, cook and serve balanced meals with kids in the house! I’m only on kid #1 so far and re-learning to plan, cook and eat with a toddler has been a bit of work. Thanks for showing me it can be done!
Great post! I love your blog and I have to say it still amazes me you manage to cook from scratch with five children and also take the time to manage this blog, you’re simply amazing! 🙂 Your blog is my go-to site for recipes and I love bragging and sharing your website to others who enjoy cooking and love food! Hope you and your family had a good Christmas and wish you all the best for the New Year!!
Love this post!!! I have tried a few of the reader’s favorites already and understand why they were picked (the shrimp curry was soooo good!). Now, I’ll have to try your favorites.
Thanks for setting this up in such a fun way. Keep up the great work, Mel. I love your blog and it’s always the first one that I turn to when I need ideas and inspiration for our family meals… Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family!
Love the “yours” and “mine” format. Lots of great recipes for me to try!
I’ve just discovered your blog a few weeks ago via Pinterest and signed up for email updates straight away. I’m in awe of how much you cook, given you have five kids. Thank you for the interesting recipes, I’ve bookmarked and put so many of them on Evernote. Look forward to cooking some of these favourites! 😀
This is so fun!
And. . . I’m just flabbergasted by how much you cook!
I am with Alicia. I am addicted to the quinoa patties! A full batch lasts only a couple of hours in this house.
I love this! Especially when it’s a two for one! Thanks for reminding me about all of your great recipes from that past year! 🙂
This is great, thank you for doing it! Love your blog & trust your recipes completely! Happy New Year!
I think my favorite recipe from the whole year is the quinoa patties. I feel like super mom when my picky two year old eats them with a side of steamed broccoli for dinner!
Thanks for all the work you put into your website. I use it almost daily!
I love how you set up “yours and mine!” So cute! And all of the recipes looks amazing!
I think this is the first time I’ve commented, but I use your blog religiously. It’s always my first source for looking for a recipe. So thanks! I also link to it often on my blog and know lots of my readers love it as well!
I will have to try more of these. I have tried some but definitely not all. If they are your favorites then I completely trust it. Thanks for all you do! Happy New Year!!
Really like how you has a readers favorite and your own, thanks so much for sharing your food and family.
