Recipes the World Forgot
I’m bringing back this super popular Recipes the World Forgot series after almost a year away, and I’m doing it by highlighting EIGHT recipes that may be lost in the archives of a decade of blogging but definitely deserve another chance in the spotlight!
Several of these suggestions were inspired after reading your comments on this top 20 recipes post.
Considering I’ve made at least six of these in the last two weeks, I’d say: a) these amazing recipes have stood the test of time with me and my family and b) several of you and I have VERY similar taste in food we love. 🙂
Several of these recipes will be getting a face lift in the next few weeks (same recipes, just new photos because some of those old photos are straight up scary).
Are any of these a favorite of yours, too?

Applesauce muffins are seriously a staple around our house. I’m not sure how we survived before you posted them. 🙂 The energy bites and monterey chicken are also big favorites. Guess that means I better try the other three. Thanks, Mel! I love you brought this back.
PS – I consider you my soul sister, not just because you post amazing recipes but because my husband is a Bryan and I have boys and our caboose was a girl.
The Tuscan pasta is tried and true at our house!
Monterey Chicken and the spinach salad! Those are the best.
Always love seeing these posts and what you guys love and continue to make in your family! Thanks so much. Made the muffins and energy bites this week.
Four of these are on our regular rotation and are definitely not forgotten at our house! Thanks for the reminder about the muffins though – they used to be a regular and we love them!
My freezer meal club loves the cashew chicken lettuce wraps. We put everything that gets cooked into a freezer bag and freeze it. Thaw, dump into a skillet, add cashews and toppings to lettuce, and it tastes amazing! My family also loves your energy balls and many other of your recipes! Thank you!
I have been cooking your recipes for 8 years now and have never left a comment. I feel like this is long overdue. Ever since my 6th baby was born this summer your blog has been my go to for every meal. I don’t have the time to search through cookbooks right now, and your hard work has saved us. Thank you so much!
Now I need to go leave a pile of recipe reviews!
Love the Monterrey chicken, Tuscan pasta, and spinach salad. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂 Looks like I need to try the cheesecake squares too.
That creamy tuscan pasta was one of the very first recipes I made of yours (after the tender grilled pork chops and summer corn salad), and it’s still one of our all-time favorites.
We had cashew chicken wraps just this week 🙂 A fav for sure!
YES! Several of these are regulars at our house! The Monterey chicken, the spinach salad, creamy Tuscan sauce, and the broccoli beef are all so good…
Thank you for your site. I’m so glad you’re bringing back this series to remind us that old doesn’t mean not as delicious!
Gasp! How did I forget about these recipes?!? I really had forgotten! I used to make those muffins all of the time. Shame on me for forgetting about them. Haha. Thanks so much for posting this! I’m excited to try your cashew chicken lettuce wraps too!
Dear Mel ~
AMAZING SPINACH SALAD WITH SWEET-SPICY NUTS, APPLES, FETA AND BACON is a big favorite with my family ( I’m the grandmother) and friends. It is the recipe from your site that I make most often. Perfect for those who are want a change from lettuce, etc traditional salads. I very much enjoy your blog and have tried many recipes with success. My best to you and your family.
The healthy applesauce oat muffins are a huge favorite here. I’ve made them twice for Christmas neighbor
gifts with a tag that says, “You’re getting muffin for Christmas!”
We make those energy bites every week! They saved me during my first few breastfeeding post partum weeks when I was STARVING all the time!
I LOVE it when you do these posts! I have missed them! Thanks! Cashew chicken lettuce wraps are a huge favorite at our house. I make your energy bites with half nutella and half peanut butter. So good! And the apple sauce oatmeal muffins are a constant rotation in our breakfast menus! I think I have made all the other ones except for the Monterrey chicken, so will try that this week. All good stuff! Thanks!
We love the energy bites and the applesauce muffins here. In fact I’ve shared the recipes often too. Thanks for all the good food Mel!
I have made 6 out of 8 of these. I will have to try the pasta sauce and cheesecake squares soon. The cashew chicken and Monterey chicken are two of my very favorites. My son and I made a double batch of the energy balls yesterday after school. We make them often. Our family of six loves so many of your recipes. Thank you for keeping me motivated to cook great food and for your dependable recipes. Even when you rewrite recipes from Cook’s Country or other sources, I appreciate how you cut to the chase and clarify the recipe. Thank you!!
I make this broccoli beef all the time! Quick and delish! The whole family loves it.
I make the cashew chicken lettuce wraps and Tuscan pasta sauce all the time! They are both fantastic. I’m glad you reminded me about the applesauce oat muffins. I used to make them frequently (they were always in the freezer!) But haven’t made them in several years. It guess got forgotten about while trying all your other yummy muffin recipes
Your broccoli beef recipe is permanently bookmarked on my phone because we make it so much! It is truly one of my favorite recipes! That said, we haven’t had it in a while so I am putting it on the meal plan for next week.
Your broccoli beef is on my menu for tomorrow… I’ve tried many recipes and can vouch that yours is easily the best I’ve made. Thanks Mel!
Love love love both the Monterey Chicken and the Spinach Salad. So yummy!
