20 Most Popular Recipes of the Last Decade (2010-2019)
The top 10 recipes of 2019 are interesting and all…but have you ever wondered what the most popular recipes have been for the last decade??
Over the last week, I’ve been inundated with requests to share this list, and since it’s not every day that a decade comes to a close, how could I resist?
It’s been a busy ten years…I’ve posted over 1,200 recipes in that time!
But here are the 20 recipes that have been viewed millions of time, made thousands of time, and loved by many! (And not so many, haha…see the 60-second Chocolate Chip Mug Cookie comments for proof.)
I have to be honest, I’m a bit surprised and, well, saddened at the lack of chocolate on this list, but hey, you guys certainly love your sweet and sour flavors, bread, and zucchini. I guess that’s not a bad thing. 🙂
Any other favorites of yours from the last 10 years that didn’t make this list?
I love your Dan Dan noodles!!!
oh Mel–
I just looked at the most popular recipes for last year. I want to eat them all. You are amazing and I tell all my friends about melskitchencafe.com
You are the ultimate rockstar!!!! You make us all heroes in the kitchen. I could go on and on.
Thanks for all your hard work. I for one and I probably represent a billion others appreciate you.
My top 10 favorite recipes of yours are:
French Bread Rolls
French Bread
Lemon Grilled Chicken
The Best Marinade
Pumpkin Applesauce Muffins
The Best Zucchini Muffins
The Best Chocolate Cake
The Best Carrot Cake
Gloria’s Cinnamon Rolls
Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie
Thank you for sharing all of your great recipes! I’ve become a much more confident and adventurous cook with the help of your website!
Your recipe I make the most is the giant chocolate chip cookie. I’ve given it as gifts, Utah I mostly make it for myself. It’s so easy and yummy! Here’s to another ten years!
My sister-in-law shared your website with me back in 2012 and I’ve been making and loving your recipes ever since! It was fun to read the top 20 of the last decade! Our regular recipes include Perfect chocolate chip cookies, Swig sugar cookies (finally tried the real thing and your recipe is so much better!), Sour cream muffins (if I don’t have time to make rolls with dinner), Double chocolate muffins, homemade taco seasoning and Loaded Baked Potato Soup. Your slow cooker turkey with no-fuss gravy is also fantastic. Thanks for sharing your talents, Mel! Have a wonderful year!
I would love to know what YOUR top 20 be! Your recipes are fantastic!
Your ground beef tacos are the first thing I made from your blog. They were kind of life changing and I had a hunch all your other recipes would be just as good. I certainly was right! Thanks for sharing all the stellar recipes over the years.
Hey Mel!
I’ve always adored cooking–actually only easy recipes, and only desserts. The reason was mostly that a) I don’t have a lot of materials (I live in China, Amazon is so slow you won’t believe it) and b) I’m 11.
So yeah, I only cook once in a while, but I love it.
In 2019, my birthday was coming, and I just saw your recipe for an oreo cake. OMG, I fell in love with it! I made it with my BFFs, and it went great! (EVen though it looked hideous), it tasted Delicio!
This year, my birthday is coming up soon, conveniently, again. So I’m baking Oreo cake, conveniently, again.
I love your recipes!
Hi Mel!
Okay, My top 15, just off the top of my head:
Smothered pork chops
Honey lime enchiladas
Oatmeal pancake mix
Italian subs
Black bean and sweet potato tacos
Sweet potato skillet
Chocolate chip cookies
Sugar cookies
Big fat Greek tacos
Instant pot mashed potatoes
Taquitos
Southwest stew
Balsamic butteR pasta
Stroganoff
Beef and barely soup
And to top it off, remember when Abram and I came to dinner at your house and you introduced us to frozen peas? Still eating frozen peas. Ha! I’m so glad for every decision you have made along the way with this blog. Thank you for blessing my life!
Mel you are so great and this list almost feels like coming home. . . I’ve made nearly all of these so many times! Thanks for your amazing contribution to all of our lives!
I’m pretty sure the tacos made the list because of the amount of times I’ve googled them and made the recipe. Never can remember the measurements of the spices. Other than that, I have it memorized
I make the cranberry-jalapeño dip every Thanksgiving. It’s our family tradition, now.
This blog is more than food – you are strengthening families . I can’t think of anything better than that! May your family be blessed for your work!
Thank you so much, Jennie!
I’ve made 9 of these and 2 more since you posted this list. Your French bread recipe is exactly like the one I’ve been making for over 20 years but your ice cubes in the hot oven tip was brilliant! Yummy crusty (on the outside) bread. Then I made the meatballs tonight and they were delicious. Meatballs are never on my radar but I’ll be making these again. I love those easy sugar cookies so I’m not surprised they are on the list. Sugar cookies are on my radar…always!
I love that you made two more of them, Jill!! Sugar cookies are always on my to-do list and radar too. Haha.
Hi Mel, we love ALL of your recipes! Thank you for turning me into someone who actually likes to cook now:). We added the corn confetti and spinach apple salad to our Christmas menu and everyone loved them! I made my first homemade pie ever for Thanksgiving, your Apple Cranberry Pie, it was amazing. It was beautiful and delicious. I cannot wait to make it again next year! I have made so many of your recipes for dinner, it’s difficult to pick favorites. Here are a few that come to mind, sweet and sour chicken(better than any restaurant), 30 min Asian noodles with chicken or shrimp(my sons favorite), broccoli beef(love!), breaded garlic chicken with lemon sauce(mmm), skillet garlic honey chicken( so easy and yummy). I am making the cashew lettuce wraps and chicken fajitas this week, both are incredible. Thank you again and again for your wonderful recipes and insights, I am so grateful to have found you! Happy 2020!
Thank you, Jodi! I’m making those cashew lettuce wraps tomorrow!
Love love love all your recipes. We talk about you like you’re part of our family. You are simply amazing. Thank you so much for all your time and hard work sharing all your fabulous recipes!
Your blog is the first place I check when I am looking for a new recipe. I have made your chopped taco salad more time than I can count. I also love your chicken curry in a hurry and cashew chicken recipes. Just made your skillet green beans tonight. Thanks for sharing with us for all of these years. Happy New Year!
Thanks, Jodi! That chopped taco salad is a HUGE favorite here! So glad you love it! Happy New Year!
Oh mel- you have blessed my kitchen so many times and we all feel like you are family. We have so many favorites that we make over and over… your best blueberry muffins, energy bites, no bake cheesecake, Portillo salad, Thai quinoa salad, naan bread, instant pot ziti… and boatloads more I’ve lost count. I know there will be food in heaven- but until then you’ve brought a slice of heaven to our home ;). Thank you!! Happy new year.
Love, love hearing all of your favorite recipes. It’s the best! Thank you so much, Hillary!
My most baked recipes are black and white cheesecake squares (people always request the recipe any time I take them somewhere!) and swig knockoff sugar cookies (even the self declared sugar cookie haters love this!).
I’m actually in the process of republishing those black and white cheesecake squares, Jenni! Glad you love them!
I love all your recipes……..so delicious! i though FOR SURE your glazed meatloaf would be on the list or in the comments. We eat your meatloaf all. the. time. & my family thinks its the best ever. It is delish, however it is also so easy! Plus your white chocolate cranberry bliss bars. Mmmmmmm girl! Those are amaaaaaaazing! Sometimes I just sit & eat my lunch & sift through your recipes for entertainment & dinner inspiration. By sometimes, at least once a week! Thanks for all you do & for being a positive part of our lives 🙂
You are so cute, Emily! Thank you!
It’s crazy that I’ve been reading your blog and making your recipes for a decade! Thanks for so many great recipes.
That is crazy, Jenn! So happy you’re still here!
I make a double batch of your energy bites weekly, along with lemon poppyseed muffins and one bowl chocolate chip muffins. All staples in my kids lunchboxes. Weeknight spaghetti sauce is my go to sauce. Southwest chicken crisp wraps are my go to quick weeknight meal, along with easy oven panini, and cashew chicken lettuce wraps. Love love love all your recipes Mel! Thank you so much for making a busy moms life a bit less hectic. 🙂
Thanks, Kylene! It’s so fun for me to read all the different recipes that are favorites for different people. Those cashew chicken lettuce wraps are probably one of my favorite recipes of all time!
Great list, Mel. Your tacos have changed my life, in that they’re SO good, SO easy, and I feel like I never have to look for another beef taco recipe again (i am a serial recipe seeker, so this says a lot). I also love the baked sweet and sour meatballs, and the sugar cookies — with their hint of saltiness — are the best sugar cookies ever. Another one where I will never look for another recipe for the same thing, A few others of my absolute favorite Mel recipes: “Tender Grilled Pork Chops” (CRAZY easy; CRAZY tasty), per Rebecca, below. I also love so many of your grilled chicken recipes, especially “Grilled Island Chicken,” “Grilled Lime Coconut Chicken and Rice,” “Lemon and Garlic Grilled Chicken,” and “Pesto Grilled Chicken.” “5-Minute Skillet Broccoli” makes an appearance on our dinner table several nights/week, and I love your easy method for roasting vegetables. Another instance where I don’t even consider any other method or recipe. I make your “Avocado Chicken Salad” for my daughter’s lunch frequently; she wishes I did so every day. We love your glazed meatloaf and “Ham and Pasta Skillet Dinner.” Your “Homemade Pepperoni Pizza Rolls” are perfect when my kids have loads of friends over. Favorite dessert on your site? “Fudgy Coconut Oil Brownie Bites.” I could go on and on, but I will close by saying that my sister and both serve your Buddha Bowls any time we’re serving a crowd of mixed ages and palates. I just love your blog, Mel, and so appreciate the public service you provide by sharing so many wonderful recipes with so many of us. Also, I truly appreciate how well you write (you write beautifully). I just love everything about your blog. Thank you, thank you.
This was amazing, Sarah! Thanks for detailing all of your favorites. So, so awesome to read. Thank you!!
I have a few things that I make over and over for my family that didn’t make the list. Bourbon chicken, Honey Lime fruit salad, Tender Grilled pork chops, Red velvet Cheesecake cake, skillet Swedish meatballs, and Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas being among them. Although the one that did make your list is the best homemade spaghetti sauce. It really is so good. Thanks for all these reciopes, your blog is my go to and everythign i have tried I have liked (Besides the hot hoagies, but everyone else in my family loves them. haha)
That bourbon chicken is an oldie!! I need to make it again, it’s probably been a year or two since I have. Thanks for the reminder!
It was fun looking at these results! I found your blog when I first got married, about 8 1/2 years ago and frequently make recipes from your site, but have never commented.
I just want to say I’m one of those people who has a binder full of my favorites from your site (with a few other recipes mixed in ). Thanks for all the AMAZING recipes over the years!!
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, Karen (and for sticking around after all this time)! So happy you have loved some of the recipes. Happy New Year!
I’ve made many of these and too many more to count! Those easy sugar cookies are my go-to! I pull up your applesauce oatmeal muffins at least once a month- always, always double that recipe! Other faves? Toffee pretzel bark, cinnamon sugar pecans, zucchini bread, instant pot cranberry sauce… I could go on and on. Thanks for sharing your recipe with us for all these years!
Thank you, Kelly!
Well, I’ll be jiggered. I thought for sure your (or Cheryl’s) cinnamon rolls would have made the list! As well as your sweet baked ham, fallen chocolate cake, Southwestern crispy chicken wraps, Greek gyros, bahn mi wraps, blender roll up pancakes and chocolate zucchini cake. But whatever. I guess we are all allowed to have favorites. Thanks for all of those beautiful recipes Mel! My life (and belly) wouldn’t be the same without them!
We have such similar food tastes, Ellen! These would all be some of my top faves, too.
My favorite recipe didn’t make the list, it is the whole wheat blender pancake recipe. I love it and play around occasionally with the grain mix using part rye, barley, kamut or other grain. It is definitely the recipe I make most often.
OOO I love those too! So good
It’s a favorite here, too! I make it at least 2 mornings per week.
Happy New Year, Mel! Gosh, so many of my absolute favorites are listed here. Love them so much. Best blog and blogger ever! Wishing you a new year full of health, joy, happiness, and laughter! xo
You are the sweetest. Thank you, Teresa!
I’ve made and loved so many of your recipes, but the grilled Hawaiian chicken and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake are our family’s most favorite of all!
LOVE both of those!! That Hawaiian chicken is best-ever. 🙂
I’m really surprised that your S’More’s cookies, Vanilla Bean White Chocolate Cheesecake, Instant Pot Honey Cilantro Chicken, and Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip bars didn’t make it on. Our family loves all of those! I think the two things we make the most are actually from two decades ago, though–Hot Hoagies from 2009 and Pineapple Meatballs from 2008. I started following you in 2008 when you lived in UT and since then, I’ve made those two dinners more times than I can count!
Oh wow, those are two VERY old recipes. I love knowing you still make them and that you’ve been here for so long!!
Decade! Wow! I think I found you in 2010 or 2011, so that’s pretty crazy to think it’s been that long. I am quite surprised at this list; it’s not what I expected and there are many recipes on here that I haven’t tried. Congratulations on a decade (+ ?) of blogging!
Thanks, Monica!
I have been a big follower for years and have never been disappointed with any of your recipes. Your sweet and sour chicken and chicken enchiladas are often requested by my son. Oh, my goodness, just tried the confetti corn for Christmas and the entire family raved. I would add the simple green bean recipe-changed my way of cooking green beans forever-never could get them quite right before.
I feel the same way about the green beans recipe, Martha! Kind of life changing for such a simple recipe!
It is entirely possible that I make your Easy Chicken Cordon Bleu more than any of your sweets/desserts….I KNOW!!–I’m as surprised as you are!:)
Haha, I love that, though! It’s a great recipe and almost as good as brownies. 🙂
There’s definitely a few favorites on the list, but I’m with you, where’s the chocolate?! The double chocolate torte, chocolate mousse cheesecake pie, the white chocolate key lime cheesecake, , peanut butter brownies, easy chicken tacos, crispy chicken wraps, honey lime enchiladas, chicken quinoa dippers, easy rustic bread, chocolate chip cookies. So so many, those are just the ones I can list off the top of my head.
LOVE, love, love hearing your favorites!
Thanks for many years of reliably delicious recipes! Your blog is the first place I go to figure out what to make for dinner, what to bring to a party or what to serve at a holiday meal. It’s like you’re right there with me in the kitchen. My kids always ask – is this from Mel? The answer is usually “yep!”. Keep up the great work!
That confetti corn though… it is to die for. We haven’t had a Thanksgiving dinner without it since you posted it. It truly steals the show!
I agree!
I am in love with your brown butter banana bars! I make them several times a year and they are always a hit!
Great reminder I need to make those again soon, Susan!
Thank you Mel for years and years of wonderful recipes! I used to check multiple food blogs for the perfect recipe but I don’t have time for that anymore! I just go to your blog and always end up happy!! Seriously, thank you for being you. Your genuine goodness comes out in your blog. Thank you Thank you!!
My family loves your Hawaiian haystacks sauce recipe-my daughter asks for it weekly and we love your Bran muffins recipe as well. I love me my instant pot and your instant pot cheesy potato soup is also a fave in our family. Thank you for so many great recipes!
I make at least two sometimes up to four of your recipes for dinner every week and none of these are in my rotation. So I guess we know what I’ll tackle next! My favorites of yours are Big Fat Greek Tacos, meatball subs (made those this week), and s’mores bars. That’s just off the top of my head. I’m so grateful for your blog. So is my family. They all know dinner will be amazing if it’s a “Mel night”. You’ve made me more confident in the kitchen a million times over. Thank you!!!
Those are three of my personal favorites, too, Leah! I love reading which recipes are favorites for you awesome readers! Thank you so much!!
I have made 17 of these! All winners in my book. I guess I better add the other three to my list to make this month. Thanks for posting such consistently great recipes, Mel! I have been a loyal follower for a decade!
So happy you are still here after all this time, Aubrie!
Can I just say…your bread sticks pulled me from a life long fear of yeast and gently pulled me into the lovely world of yeast doughs! I was getting my hair cut a few days ago and the beautician and I had our own list of Mel’s favorite recipes! You are the awesomest! Here’s to TEN MORE!
I have made about half of the top 20 recipes. Will definitely have to try the other half! Happy New Year Mel!
Happy New Year, Renee!!
Could it be that you have so many chocolate recipes that us chocolate lovers couldn’t settle on just one to boost to the top? I don’t think I can even count the number of desserts with chocolate in them that I have tried from your site, and they are all winners! Whereas there are only 3 or 4 enchilada recipes (and these are my favorite). Love these lists though! Thanks, and Happy New Year!
I think you may be right! Definitely more chocolate options than, say, spaghetti sauce. Which is a good thing!
Ha, that’s a pretty good assessment of why there isn’t any strong chocolate contender in the top 20. I think you’re on to something, Laura. 🙂
Oh man, so many good ones! I can’t believe Cheryl’s cinnamon rolls didn’t make this list or the 2019 list – LIFE CHANGING! We love your carnitas, sloppy joe’s, drop biscuits and, breadsticks ❤️
I’m one of those pushing the French bread to the top of the list. 🙂 I made it three times over the holidays, as well as your buttery cornmeal dinner rolls, perfect small batch cinnamon rolls, best ever taco soup, leftover turkey rice soup…. 🙂 Needless to say, I think your recipes are the best! Happy, happy New Year!
Thank you, Jo!!
I have to agree about Cheryl’s cinnamon rolls – they are top 20 deserving for sure!
I’m totally surprised by this list!! Never would have guessed most of these would be on here. And, have to say, I’m DYING at the comments on the choc chip mug cookie. Good grief, people.
Haha, I know. Sometimes I read those comments just to get a good laugh in after a hard day.
I think it is safe to say that your recipes dominate my household. 16/20 on that list. Sweet and sour chicken is still the most requested meal of everything we love from your site. I have restricted it to once every two weeks (which is harder to do than you think because I LOVE it).
I’m impressed you make the sweet and sour chicken so often, Annie! It’s a labor of love; I hope your family knows how lucky they are! 🙂
I work every other weekend (nursing life!). Our blended family is under one roof on my weekends off so our family tradition is me making a double batch of the sweet and sour chicken, garlic broccoli and either fried rice or lo mein noodles. A labour of love for the people I love the most.
There are way too many things I haven’t made on this list! But glad to see the green chile enchiladas – which are so amazing!
Thanks, Anna!
I would love to see the top 20 treats/desserts! I feel like this post lacked that I love your blog and recipes. My oldest recognizes your name like your a friend since I make so many of your recipes.
Not a bad idea! I should filter the top 20 to just desserts and see what comes up!
I’ve only made 6 of these but dozens of others. Just tonight I needed a drop biscuit to to with some last minute homemade chicken noodle soup for my sickie girlie. Literally searched mel’s drop biscuits because I knew they’d be easy and delicious!
I have many go to Mel recipes including your incredible Romaine salad, overnight buttermilk crescents, confetti corn, overnight oatmeal pancakes, your buttercream, and the list goes on. I made two of your giant chocolate chip cookies and delivered them to my awesome labor and delivery ward after I had my last baby and made it several times since! Up next is you chicken pot pie with biscuits for our church’s First Sunday supper! So excited to try it! Thanks for all you do! Happy New Year!
Whole heartedly agree with the Green Chile enchiladas. Those were my first love of yours. Excited to try some of these recipes! My favorite of the year is egg roll bowl. Another contender for the year is your broccoli method. Perfect and quicker than roasting. Another all time fave is easy chicken cordon bleu! You are definitely my to-go girl for new recipes! Or a reliable version of classics!
No thick and chewy chocolate chip cookie bars?!?! I’m shocked!! 😉 but the taco meat recipe is truly life changing so that one I agree with. Another that should be on here is the 5 min skillet broccoli. It’s the best!
The best post would be if we each came up with our own top 20 list and shared! Who cares what the analytics say, right? I love hearing everybody’s favorites.
I’m with you … the chocolate chip cookie bars and taco meat are life changers! Oh! And the creamy garlic alfredo sauce weeknight go-to. I don’t know what I’d do without those three recipes! : )
We are kindred spirits!! I should have included the creamy garlic alfredo sauce too! We love that one as well!!!!
I have visited the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies a hundred times on my own as well as the cashew chicken lettuce wraps! Those are two of my favs! Thanks for posting this list. It’s fun to see what others are obsessed with!
Two of my favorites as well!!
I can’t believe none of your pork tenderloin recipes made the cut! We regularly rotate through them — they are all winners!
I agree with that! I make the maple pork tenderloin as a go-to Sunday dinner.
