We wanted to try so many of these recipes that we decided to have a Christmas cookie countdown. We’ve made a different cookie recipe from your site every day of December — it has been so fun!
Oh my goodness, I love this! So much fun! Thanks for sharing that, Janay!
Grand prize winner….Decadent Double Chocolate Mint cookies
Christmas soft, minty yum of a cookie and perfect to freeze
But Christmas just is not Christmas without Cranberry Pecan Cream Cheese Dip… I know, I know, leave that for another day and another post. But folks must know about Mel’s very best of all time.
Now about your favorite Thanksgiving pie- Apple Cranberry- out of the ball park. I made it for the first time this year and it is a new must.
Thank you, looking through these recipes made me so happy and excited to bake. Any thoughts on a cookie I could make the weekend before Christmas and still be good on Christmas Day? Perhaps there are some that freeze well or keep well that you can recommend? Much appreciated, and a very happy holidays to you and your family. Appreciatively, Annamarie
Hi Annamarie! I think all of the cookies on this list freeze really well, except for the Twixsters. Even the frosted cookies freeze well (I freeze them frosted and they thaw great!).
Thank you!
I was so happy to see the soft and chewy ginger molasses cookies made the list. Definitely one of my favorites that I only make this time of year!
Mel this list is so beautiful! I’m excited to get baking. Please make a favorite bar cookie list too. Making bars is such a time bonus this time of year. Thank you so much for all you do. I love making so many of your terrific recipes!! You are definitely THE BEST!
My kids just made your sugar gems the other day…not on this list but we love that oldie!
What are the cookies in the cover picture? Chocolate with candy cane kisses? I don’t see a pic of them in the list, and that is the one i NEED to make.
It’s there! The chocolate peppermint crinkle blossom cookies.
Thought about asking which is your personal favorite, but decided that would be wrong . . . Like asking you to choose your favorite child. Merry Christmas!
I must love cookies: baking and eating!… as much as you, or close! As I scroll down your beautiful list I was checking off the few I have not made, and considering when I should plan to make them! Chocolate shortbread fingers are first up, maybe tomorrow! Your cookie recipes….as well as your breakfast recipes are used frequently at my house! Happy holiday baking Mel.
Our favorite is a tie with Decadent double chocolate mint and soft and chewy ginger molasses cookies! My family insists we make them for Santa which my husband and I don’t mind a bit 😉 thanks for the fun post! Merry Christmas to you all!
Oh yes, I don’t think Santa would mind a bit if those cookies were left out for him around here, either! 🙂
Mel,
You need to add HOMEMADE DULCE DE LECHE TWIX BARS {SHORTBREAD + CARAMEL + CHOCOLATE} to this list. We made them for Christmas one year, loved them so much we made them for new years eve, and then the super bowl party that next year. Received so many rave reviews. Of course, gave you all the credit. Absolutely fantastic.
I love those, too, Karen! Glad they have been such a hit for you! This list was dedicated to purely cookies, but if I would have included any bar desserts, those would have made the list for sure!
The soft egg nog sugar cookies are one of the best holiday faves that will be made this week. The white chocolate macadamia nut is also tops and I just purchased white chocolate chips yesterday to have ready to make these soon. And a fave I’ve made many times is the easy soft and chewy sugar cookies. They are scrumptious and so easy to make!! I adore your recipes!!
Thank you so much, Kelli!!
Yeah! Perfect timing! So many of these my family and I love and have made over the years. There are a few I have missed, so this is so nice to have in one place! Yummy! Thanks Mel!
Happy Holidays, Jen!
