Recipes the World Forgot
It’s been way too long since the last installment of Recipes the World Forgot!
I’m here to repent and change my ways by sharing with you 12 of my most favorite recipes that over the years have become buried in the archives.
That happens when you have over a thousand recipes floating around inside this blog space (and yes, that means I’ve been blogging a LOOOONNGGG time!).
These recipes are amazing, and they deserve another chance in the spotlight.
Have you made any of them??
{Those super soft chocolate chip cookies just got a recipe refresh with new photos and recipe notes – they are incredible and the grilled lemon chicken wraps are one of my favorite dinners EVER!}
So I must have started making that lemon garlic grilled chicken shortly after you posted it, I made it a LOT for quite a few years, but haven’t made it since leaving my ex 4 years ago! Thank you for the recipe, I think it’s one I left for him since I knew he loved it!
A couple hacks I found: it works GREAT with thighs!
And, and this is mind-blowing: when it’s not grilling season, you don’t even need to marinate the chicken, just use the marinade as cooking oil in a skillet! Delish!
Thanks for letting me join.
I love new recipes to try
I love SO many of these! I make the spaghetti sauce so often I almost have it memorized. The tri-color pasta salad is my go to. Just made the grilled chicken a couple of days ago and the chocolate cake is a revelation.❤️❤️❤️
On my to do list ASAP
The recipes look good,
I’M VERY EXCITED TO TRY THESE FORGOTTEN RECIPES… I LOVE TO COOK AND BAKE…I WAS TAUGHT HOW TO COOK AND BAKE FROM MEMORY AND HAND✋/ SCRATCH…THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THEM BACK… SINCERELY, MISS TAMMY H… GOD’S BLESSINGS TO YOU..
I live and die by those zucchini bites! So delicious all year round, but especially in the summer when the garden is producing like mad! Thanks for always bringing the goods Mel – you’re amazing!
Those coconut oatmeal chewies are my kryptonite. I do half coconut oil and use half toasted coconut. Le sigh. I’m weak when they are around.

Would like to be able to get recipe (s) from the site; so much”Junk” to have to cut thru/ close out of! It’s frustrating to say the least; WHY can one just be able to go to website and NOT have to deal with All the ads to have to delete, to hopefully be able to get recipe??? ??? ???
I went/came to check out the chocolate chip recipe; then saw recipes for rhubarb pie. I then just wanted to be able to go directly to recipe & able to clip/copy.. PLEASE let me know, give me assistance with this issue!!! Send to annbarreau692@gmail.com
Hi Anne, sorry your experience here has been less than pleasant! Although I run far less ads than my ad management company recommends, I do agree that the ads can be annoying. The ads are a necessary evil so that I can continue to provide free content to all of you and still get paid a bit for the hard work of maintaining this blog and all that goes into it. 🙂 However you shouldn’t be encountering any pop up ads that you have to close out of. If that’s the case, I can do some digging to figure out why. There is a “print” button on each of the recipes on my site that you can click on to get to a text-only version of the recipe.
I just found your blog via a google highlight regarding lost recipes. I was a bit disappointed because I read that to mean historical recipes not just your old recipes. But still I browsed to find the series of old recipes and immediately found 2 that I put in my try soon list. (If I had cream cheese in the fridge we’d be eating artichoke dip tonight!) Problem is in both part 1 and 2 the links to the recipes from the photos are wrong. I gave up on the topic and am now just browsing through the blog randomly.
Hi Karen, glad you found your way here! I hope you find some yummy recipes to try.
Where’s the frickin recipe!?
You have to click the link on the list of foods above. Hope this helps 🙂
What recipe in particular are you looking for?
Looking forward to trying this
Old chow chow recipe
aah, the Quick Weeknight Homemade Spaghetti Sauce….only wish it had come into my life a few years earlier when I was in the midst of all the after school activity chaos! So good…can’t recommend enough for busy weeknights.
I’m glad you like that one, Sandra! The after school activity chaos is no joke!
Those chocolate chip cookies are my favorite! I have been told several times that I make the best cookies after someone has eaten those, all thanks to you!
Love that, Misty! Take all the credit for yourself!
I just printed the strawberry rhubarb pie recipe this morning before I saw this post! I just got fresh strawberries yesterday and I tried this recipe last supper. My son and I loved it! I prefer a crumble top over a pastry top. Thanks!
I’m making it for Father’s Day tomorrow! I love the crumble top, too.
Tri colored pasta salad is one of our all time favorites! I’ve made it so many times I know the recipe by heart! Yum!
Glad you like that one, Nikie! I make it all the time in the summer.
I found your oatmeal coconut chewies recipe hidden in my recipe box (yes, I have a real box with recipe cards) and made them for a bake sale. Was reminded of why I wrote down the recipe in the first place! They are so good!!
I have an old school recipe box, too, Brianna! Love that!
I’ve made the quinoa cake a few times – the GF family member AND everyone else loves it. The funfetti mug cake is a favorite Family Night treat at our house. The spaghetti sauce is the only one I make (and I don’t even add the meat, so it’s SUPER fast and easy). The choc chip cookies were my main recipe for many years – but now I get adventurous and almost always make a new recipe. I’ve made the roll-up pancakes for the kids a couple of times. And I must have made the zucchini bites once, but I think only once. That’s half! Oh, but I REALLY want that strawberry rhubarb pie!
I love hearing the recipes you’ve made and loved, Stephanie. Thank you!
We live your lemon garlic chicken, it’s delicious served with a big dinner salad.
I agree!!
I have made every single one of these except the Funfetti cake! I love them all. My son requests the quinoa chocolate cake every year for his birthday and none of us are even gluten free. I also bring the tri-color pasta salad to every single BBQ I go to — it really is the best!
I agree about that chocolate cake! We don’t eat gluten-free either, but that cake is next level good.
Your strawberry rhubarb pie has definitely not been forgotten at my house! I make it a couple times a month in the summer and dream of it the rest of the year when I don’t have fresh rhubarb!
I dream of it all year long, too!
I love this series!! And these recipes!! Oatmeal coconut chewies, strawberry rhubarb pie, grilled lemon chicken garlic wraps, and rollup blender pancakes are some of our favorites! I’ll have to try the rest. You are the best, Mel!! Thanks for making cooking/baking so fun and so delicious.
I love hearing the recipes you love! Thanks, Alexandra!
The quick weeknight spaghetti sauce is a family favorite! I usually add a splash of balsamic vinegar, but otherwise follow the recipe and we love it! It actually reminds me a lot of my grandma’s spaghetti sauce which was the only spaghetti I would eat growing up! 🙂
Very good recipes.
Thanks, Sabrina!
