Holiday Gift Guide: Kitchen and Home
Holiday gift guides are live! This one is dedicated to current favorites for the kitchen and home.
Remember that none of the items on my gift guides are sponsored. I’ve bought or been gifted by friends/family everything on this list – these are all things we genuinely love and play often! Affiliate links are included for items I’ve purchased from Amazon; feel free to shop around for the best deal.
I hope you find this gift guide helpful! It certainly isn’t meant to be comprehensive, but it includes my current favorite things.
Other Gift Guides:
My Cookbook: I am still blown away by your support and excitement over this cookbook. Thank you! I’m obviously a little bit biased, but I think it would make a fantastic gift for anyone who enjoys cooking or baking. The recipes are approachable, fun and familiy-friendly.
Cookbook Stand: I have owned this cookbook stand for years, and it really is the best! The handy tabs keep cookbook pages open, and it’s very sturdy.
Butter Dish: I have had many butter dishes over the years, and this one stands firm as my favorite. It fits one stick of butter (maybe a bit more) – it comes in a bigger size, too.
Rubbermaid Power Scrubber: ok, hear me out on this one. I know that cleaning supplies are generally regarded as gifting no-no’s, but this little power scrubber is so exceptional, it deserves a mention and would make a great stocking stuffer (or just buy it right now for yourself!). It digs into the corners and edges of sinks and grout like a beast. I have one for my kitchen and another for cleaning bathrooms!
Electric Whisk and Frother: there are many brands of these on the market, and I’ve definitely had one before that was rather pitiful. But I love this one! It is high powered and long-lasting. We use it almost daily for hot chocolate, mixing protein powder into milk, and any small whisking job that needs a little power behind it.
Sourdough Jars: for the sourdough baker in your life, these jars are practical and pretty. I keep my sourdough starter in one enormous jug, but I use these smaller jars when I want to feed sourdough for specific recipes. I’ve gifted this set to several friends, as well! It’s available as a single jar or in a set of two.
Dachshund Salt and Pepper Shakers: adorable and fun (can you guess where the salt and pepper shake out from? 😉), these little salt and pepper shakers are perfect for a stocking stuffer to gift to anyone that loves dogs. I gave them to my son when he had graduated and was moving on his own for the first time.
Ninja Individual Blender: this was the hit of Christmas last year when we gifted this to my protein-shake loving 15-year old. It has been used every day this year (usually twice a day), and is the best little blender ever. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
Sherpa Lined Throw: we are a huge blanket family and keep many stocked in the closet off the living room for easy access during the winter (and often during the summer, too 😂). This is one of our favorites! Super cute pattern, cozy sherpa lining, and it’s very affordable.
Gorilla Can Opener: best can opener ever! (I used to love and recommend this one, but I’m almost positive they changed their manufacturing, because I had two break on me and new I had to find a new, heavy-duty one to get behind.)
Ninja Creami Machine: are these worth the hype? In our household, yes! We’ve had one for nearly a year, so I can say with confidence that it was worth the purchase for us (check your local Costco for a slightly cheaper price). We make chocolate protein ice cream nonstop AND we use it for regular frozen treats, too. I recently made 15 milkshakes in one night for my son’s homecoming dinner with this thing. It’s brilliant, and we love it!
Portable Carpet/Rug Cleaner: this little green machine is amazing! I use it on pillows, carpet spots, rugs, and furniture. It can be used in the car, too. It’s managed to get all the spots out I’ve worked on in my house!
Bread Knife: this affordable bread knife is incredible. I bought a very expensive one at the same time as this one to compare, and this $17 knife is just as good, if not better, than the $100 serrated knife. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
USA Metal Pie Plate: I think USA pans are the best pans ever. I have their bread loaf pans, muffin tins, mini muffin tins, and 9X13-inch pans, and nothing else compares, so it is no surprise that their pie plates are exceptionally stellar. Not only do they work great for, well, pie, but they are one of the best pans for this easy peasant bread (and the cheesy version!).
Rotary Cheese Grater: after a bazillion of you recommended this to me, I finally caved and got one. I was skeptical how it could be better than my every day box grater, but I have become a big fan. It grates cheese so much faster than the box grater (without the cumbersome girth of my food processor). I use it all the time. It’s not hard to clean at all – most of the pieces are dishwasher safe. Soft cheeses can get stuck sometimes, but if you tap it out often and/or freeze the cheese for a few minutes before shredding, it works just fine.
Portable Fabric Steamer: I despise ironing more than I can express. Enter this portable steamer. I’ve been using it for months, and it has changed my life. Even my kids use it to quickly steam out wrinkles for t-shirts that were left in their clean laundry basket too long (don’t look at me! They do their own laundry 😜). Love this thing!
Slushie Maker Cup: this fun little cup makes slushies in an instant out of any liquid you can think to put in there! (The cup has to be frozen prior to using.) One of Cam’s brothers gifted this to her for her birthday, and she literally uses it almost daily. Orange juice, chocolate milk, you name it, and she’s making a slushie with it. So fun!
Low Profile Cake Stand: this is my favorite cake stand! I love the low profile height and the generous width of the tray. It’s perfect!
Best Kitchen Scale: after having several kitchen scales go haywire on me, I finally invested in this scale, and it has been going strong for several years now. It never glitches, it’s super accurate, and I use it daily.
Shallow Dinner Bowls: another item that gets near-daily use in my kitchen. These bowls are a personal favorite! We use them when we make recipes like Korean beef bowls, but mostly I use them for portioning out toppings for dinners like taco night or build-your-own salads. They are the perfect size; I love them SO much.

I am thinking of buying the Creami as a group gift for my kids, but would like to see the recipes first. Would love it if you posted your milkshake recipe.
Hi Julia, our go-to recipe is super simple. We use 2 cups of Fairlife chocolate milk (it’s our fave, but other brands would work) and 1-2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (we use Clean Simple Eats brownie batter, usually). We whisk that together…it’s ok if there are a few lumps…freeze and then mix it up. For more creative recipes, you can do a quick google search – there are so many recipes online!
I love my Mercer bread knife. I actually use it after I lift my brownies or bars out of the pan via parchment paper this knife cuts beautiful rows.
Good to know!
What size of bowl do you buy? They come in 7.6 or 8.4.
Sorry for the delay, Liz, I have the 7.6 inch size.
Probably on a gift guide another year, but would love your recommendation for an accurate instant read thermometer!
I’m not sure what Mel recommends, but I have had success with the Theropop instant thermometer. It’s made by the manufactures of the Thermapen, but cheaper. I’ve had mine for over 10 years. I’ve only replaced the battery once.
Hi Mary, Melanie (comment below) is right, I love the Thermopop instant read thermometer. I have two!
Thank you for this! Would you please share your recipe for chocolate protein ice cream?
I came here to ask for this recipe too! We love our Creami!
HI Carmen and Laurie – our “recipe” is hardly a recipe, but we love it! It’s so good!
