Three Tasty Grilling Menus: Perfect for Labor Day!
We’re already looking forward to the long holiday weekend (Labor Day here in the United States) and of course my thoughts are centered on the food. Always.
As I was sitting here planning our weekend menu (we have family coming into town – the best!), I thought it might be fun to give you my top three menu suggestions for this weekend…or for anytime you are grilling, entertaining, or just dreaming about food (raising hand over here).
Mix and match to your heart’s content – these are some of my very favorite recipes! I’m thinking menu #2 is where it’s at for me and mine. Above all, have a great weekend!

I love your recipe round ups, Mel! Happy Labor Day!
I must make that summer corn salad immediately, it looks amazing.
Decisions, decisions! You make life full of the most wonderful type of decisions. Many of these are our favorites and many are ones I want to try that I know will become our favorites. Much thanks for the excellent work you do with this website. May your long weekend with your family bring much joy and many blessings into your life.
Hmm, I can’t decide if I want to make the caramel pear crisp or the strawberry shortcake bars, decisions decisions. I live in the Pacific NW so I’m crossing my fingers that it won’t rain so that I can try your grilled salmon recipe too!
I also live in the Pacific NW- lets pray for no rain!! I am attempting the pear crisp and cannot wait to try it 🙂 Good luck
I’m going to try the pear crisp to, since a lot of them fell of the trees in the last wind storm. I can’t wait! Good luck to you too!!
I love menu ideas!! Menu #1 called to me the most, but I like something from each. I’ve had the beef kebabs on my “must make” list for a while, just waiting for meat to go on sale. So if I had to pick a dream meal for my Labor Day weekend, it would be those two kebab recipes, the corn salad, German potato salad, calico beans, creamy fruit salad, no bake chocolate cheesecake, and lemon bars. We are heading to the lake for at least a day…let’s see if I can get motivation to make 50% of my “wish list”.
And here is the ending score to our weekend: Stomach Flu: 3. Recipes made: 0. 🙁 Ok, what is the next holiday?…
You forgot your slow cooker ribs recipe. These are on my list for Labor Day. And the root beer barbecue sauce is amazing! I had some leftover and I added it to the barbecue pork I made last week. I think I will try the German Potato Salad. I’m not a huge fan of potato salad because I don’t like mayonnaise. I’m excited to try it.
Oh, yes, that’s a GREAT recipe for Labor Day weekend!
Awesome as always .. You have included many of my fav’s!! I’m with you on Menu #2 especially because I’ve been wanting to make the German Potato salad … Looks like this weekend is shaping up to be filled with great food !! Enjoy your long weekend with food and family!!
These look great….but they are going to have to be for another time. Labor Day weekend is always when we celebrate my son’s (and mine) birthday. I love that we share a birthday but it is a lot of work for me on my birthday. This year, I’ve decided (since I now have four ovens) to just get Papa Murphy’s pizza. I still have guilt though since it is his 13th b-day. Hmmmm, do I have time to rethink the menu??
I’m not doing a cookout, but I found several recipes that are calling me for weekend meals: caramel pear crisp, loaded potato salad, your mom’s calico baked beans and the balsamic kebabs.
Have a wonderful weekend with family, Mel!
